I missed the entire game except the last two plays, and a questionable call "gave" the Chickens a victory. I looked up the game stats, and the Packers only gained 248 yards. One of the best offenses in the NFL only gained 248 yards? Great job by the Seattle defense. If the Packers deserved to win that game, they shouldn't have given the "terrible replacements" a chance to cost them the game, right? They should have dominated the game and won by 30. Does anyone disagree with this statement? I gave up on blaming refs for bad calls many years ago, but I'm an anomaly. Did the replacement refs favor the Seahawks all game? I didn't watch the game, so that's a legit question.
Everyone knows refs in general suck, I've made this point already several times. Out play your opponent, then questionable calls won't decide games, because everyone knows refs suck (even the replacements). I've never disputed this point, but how is this not a level playing field? The replacements make most of the correct calls, and miss some tough "questionable" calls, but they aren't favoring one team over another.
Everyone is still blaming the NFL. EVERYONE. Why isn't anyone except me blaming the regular refs for demanding what they don't deserve? Did everyone forget the comment that I work more in a week than NFL refs work in a year? Many of us work more in a week than NFL refs do in a year. The NFL offered a comparable raise for the refs they offered the bench warming athletes. WHY DOES NOBODY CARE ABOUT THIS FACT?
Just remember that every Chickens fan believes they were robbed of a Super Bowl a couple years ago against the Steelers because of the regular NFL refs, and those same fans are celebrating their win tonight.
If the GB defender catching the ball had swatted that ball above his head out of bounds, like every defender is taught, Packers win. Regular refs never call offensive pass interference on a hail mary (and I'll admit that was an obvious offensive pass interference), so that missed call is moot. The Packers have no one to blame but themselves. It was a strange play, but knowing they have replacements refs, they chose to give the replacements a chance to make a bad call. Seattle played a great game against a better team, and put themselves in a position to win the game. And they won. Congrats Seattle.

Yes the regular refs make questionable calls, but the frequency and how bad some of these calls are WAAAAAAAAAAY worse than the regular refs.

I missed the Patriots v. Ravens game as well. I just saw Belichick bitching about how the refs called 30 penalties. I just checked, it was 24, 14 were against the Ravens. The Ravens also had 100+ yards over the Pats.
Obviously I didn't see the "questionable" calls, but it sounds like Belichick is complaining that a kicker might have almost missed a 20 yard FG, which kickers make 99% of the time. Bill, you're lucky the ball didn't split the uprights.
I should make a sexist joke about his last name, but I won't.

Of course everyone is going to blame the NFL. It's a multi-billion dollar revenue machine and what the refs want is a drop in the bucket. Is it fair that the refs want more? Do they deserve more? FUCK NO. But games are becoming a farse right now and the regular refs are probably laughing their asses off to the bank because they're getting more leverage with every single game.

I totally agree that the overall blame should lie on the league refs for thinking they were bigger than the game.
While the replacements have struggled, I also feel they are being unfairly put under a very large microscope by many people in the media, as well as the coaches & the players - and any mistake they make, no matter the size, will be blown completely out of proportion. It's basically no-win scenario for the replacements. The league refs acted like assholes and the replacements now have to deal with the fallout. - and that's sad.

I could have saved myself about 30 paragraphs by just writing that.
Does anyone who follows the negotiations (or lack there of) know the deal with retirement benefits? I thought that was the deciding factor of the lockout, the refs never got retirement benefits, but wanted them. My friend swears the refs always had retirement benefits, and the league is trying to take them away. He also smokes a ton of weed, and rarely has any idea of what he's talking about, but I don't feel like doing anymore research on the differences between what the NFL is offering, and what the refs are demanding. I do know the NFL offered the refs a comparable increase in salary they offered the minimum wage NFL players, and I still think the NFL refs are fucks for demanding anything, but maybe I'll be a bit less opinionated if anyone can settle this discrepancy.
EDIT:
I did some more research, and I see the NFL is trying to replace the referee pension with a 401K plan, which is basically replacing the guaranteed income for retirement with an plan designed to invest what they are already earning. I'm not an expert on retirement, but this doesn't seem too far fetched for referees making six Dr. Garbanzoures for part-time work. Referees can make more than their current pension if they control their 401K like us regular folk, and it should be more lucrative. The regulars are already grandfathered on their pension, so it doesn't affect any of them.
The real issue appears to be the NFL is trying to hire more referees, so they can choose the best based on performance. If you suck (which many do), the NFL will choose to give work to the refs who suck less. Then your 401K isn't as lucrative because you are a terrible ref getting less work. Sounds like a good plan moving forward, which is obviously why the regular refs are balking at the proposal. They want their money regardless of their worth. Again, fuck them.

Yeah the NFL wants backup crews and the refs don't want that, and that seems like another sticking point.

As soon as I saw the final play in the Packers-Seahawks game, I knew they would be back this week ( or real soon). It's one thing when diehard fans see missed calls and be unhappy about it, but when people who have never watched a game, bring up the replacement refs ruining the game ( i.e my mom), the leverage of the Ref's union skyrockets. The league had to cut their losses on this one.
