Oh man I love that we have this thread.
Lagunitas: Fine beer, went to their headquarters a while ago for a brewery tour due to begin at 2:00, arrived at 2:05, was told it hadn't begun and to have a seat at the bar and that they'd announce it before it began... Long story short, I'm pretty bitter about it because we never got to go on the tour. It was good beer, but not so radically special that I feel uncomfortable about intentionally spending my money on local breweries that won't screw you if you try to go on a tour.
Rogue: I recently discovered that there's a Rogue Alehouse in San Francisco and JUST ABOUT SHIT MY PANTS. I had the Santa's Private Reserve and loved it.
Stone: Definitely one of my favorite brewery tours, especially because the guide had such a good attitude. He took down the beer snob mentality with a nice anecdote and served me Stone beer, so I was a happy fucking camper.
Currently drinking Flying Dog's IPA. Picture:

I'm going to Portland next week, where I plan to go on brewery tours a plenty. Totally fucking amped.

Smokey, this isn't Cloud City. This is Sasquatch. There are rules. Or at least that's what the kind folks at the Gorge would have us believe.

I made an oatmeal stout for the holidays, and it is delicious if I do say so myself. Just gotta get some chocolate flavor in there next time and I'd have the trifecta.
Someone earlier mentioned a chocolate porter. If you're into these types of beer and are ever in BC you have to try the double chocolate porter made by Phillips. It tastes like a milkshake, and I can only ever have one but oh man is it good!

Thanks for all talk here guys, picked up some Rogue (Dead man's Ale and a bunch of the Junipers) and some Lagunitas (I believe it's called A Little Wild or something, picture of a pin up looking girl on the bottle). The Oregon brews traveled a long long way from home to my excellent import Liquor store. Can't wait to wrap the day up and sink into a week long break, so until then I'll premtively raise a bottle to y'all on the Sasquatch Board and wish you a Happy Holiday. I will also be sure to hit you up with some recomendation from my area that can hopefully be found in the PNW.

I guess I have two favorite local breweries (Portland).
Amnesia would be the one I frequent the most. It is north of downtown in the Mississippi area (really close to the Mississippi Studios). It is a great place to hang out when the weather is nice, because they have a giant patio out front, and their bar food is grilled in the corner of the patio. The Desolation IPA is my favorite (IPAs in general are my favorites). I don't know what that place is like in the winter months, because the indoor houses roughly 30 people.
Lompoc would be my second favorite. I used to hit the New Old Lompoc on NW 23rd occasionally. Great food, and a nice outdoor patio as well. I've only been to the Lompoc on SE Division once, but I recall it being more of a restaurant.
Both places appeal to a younger crowd, and offer prime hipster watching (when in Rome). Most of the bigger breweries in downtown Portland have more of a Red Robbin family restaurant feel, so I don't hit those very often.

The Desolation IPA looks to be a little on the low side of IBU's for my taste, but I'm pretty intrigued by Amnesia. I'll have to check that place out whenever I make it down to pdx again!

Peatrick: It wasn't, but I'm sure that dude is equally cool.
Just got back from vacation (hi all), here are the places I went:
Full Sail in Oregon, NYE. Only people on the tour were me and my girlfriend. It ruled. I've never tried their Sessions beers before, but both were excellent. Really cool place, good people.
Rogue in Portland. It actually wound up being a distillery tour, which was neat. Drank lots of their beer. Santa's Private Reserve is so fucking good. They make a Chipotle Ale, which is worth trying a sip of, but I wouldn't suggest that anyone order it. Their Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout was delightful.
Widmer in Portland. Any tour that gives you a glass at the end is good in my book (Full Sail did this also). Also, any tour that BEGINS with free tasting is solid.
Deschutes in Portland. It was actually just an brewpub, no tour. Nothing comes to mind as remarkable, even though I know I've had their beer before and enjoyed it. I just drank a lot over the past week. I should have taken notes.
Happy 2011.

Session Red = Fantastic. Session Black = Little too syrupy for me. Rogue Santa's Private Reserve = One of my favorite holiday treats. Rogue Chipotle Ale = Agree with you. Worth a try but I'll leave it at that. Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout = Well, I already stated my love for a good oatmeal stout and this is no exception.
That's awesome you got to visit some great breweries. I need to up my brewery visitation game.
