Last night I had a growler of North Sound - Imperial Pilsner. Found it in my place (parent's left it at my house while I was on my honeymoon). I was super excited for this beer but a little let down A bit too intense hop presence for my palate

Going to the bro fest...I mean beer fest today. Craft beer drinking will commence shortly. Shortly after waiting in line for a half hour.

Sampled a couple of beers with my Dad yesterday that I hadn't had before.
Rogue White Crane Bitter (bottled for Japan) Fullers Honey Dew (slight honey note, still really good) Clown Shoes Lubrication (American Black Ale)
He got them all at wine world in Bellevue. I haven't been in there yet but he said it is the largest selection he has come across. I think a trip is in order for me

Had the new Howe Sound Gathering Storm CDA last night and absolutely loved it. It's only the second CDA I've tried but I think I have a new favorite!

Do you guys get Firestone Walker in the stores where you live? If so, their Wookie Jack CDA is pretty tasty and you should give it a try

Is this CDA style some new kind of a beer phenomenon lately? It seems to have jumped out and taken over out of nowhere.
EDIT: Oh ok, so that just seems to be the PacNW name for a black IPA. I kind of Dr. Garbanzoured it was something like that. As a big fan of porters and IPAs, I stand behind this style.

When I first saw them they were just called black IPAs. I am not sure who first put that stamp on there but it stuck.

^ Yea that's pretty interesting. The black IPA label was definitely around first, but more and more I'm seeing it referred to as CDA. Either way I'm for it!

While I was on my honeymoon I went to Maui Brewing. I don't know why but I had this idea that it was going to be the best brewery ever before I went there. I guess it was probably just how excited I was to go to Maui? Anyways, not saying it was bad but I think that the coconut porter is probably their best beer.
They had 16 beers on tap and they were all drinkable. I enjoyed their Czech Pils, America Strong Pale and West Coast Style Pale the best out of their non-canned brews. Worth a visit though if you are ever on the island!
