Today's atrocity:



The new Blu-Ray release of the Star Wars films has seen the original trilogy horrifically altered by George Lucas again. Riding the massive wave of respect generated by his brilliant decision to have Lord Vader bellow NOOOOOOOOOOO!! at the end of Revenge of the Sith, Lucas has added audio of Vader doing the same thing at the end of Return of the Jedi. You know, during the emotional climax of the original trilogy. Because it's not like it was fucking perfect exactly the way it was for the last thirty years.

Is it even possible to purchase new copies of the original version anymore?? I'd love to have the trilogy on discs but not if they're going to be the god awful re-issues.

I say if you're going to be a revisionist then you should fucking go all out. I suggest replacing every Ewok sound effect with Darth Vader screaming NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!.

Or as Yoda lay dying, instead of his prophecy concerning another... sky... wa.... kahhhhhh, he should instead scream to the heavens, in the voice of James Earl Jones, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Or take a page from the Family Guy spoof of the original Star Wars, and as Han Solo ruthlessly murders Greedo in the Cantina, Greedo should scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Or, in Jabba's Palace after Luke has ruthlessly defeated the Rancor, the Pit Keeper should come stumbling in, heartbroken, and unleash a heart-shattering NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Or how about in the scene in the Rebel base on the ice planet Hoth, after Leia has ruthlessly called Han Solo a 'scruffy-looking nerve-hurter', Han should look at her and cry NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Speaking of wretched and Star Wars, this whole thing just sparked a conversation at my office about the Star Wars Christmas Special. The one where they go to the Wookie's planet and you see Chewie's family. Has anyone else seen this? It is so fucking awful. I saw a shit quality dvd bootleg of it last year and couldn't even make it through half.

Bea fucking Arthur is in it! Terrible stuff.

Oh shit dude the Star Wars Christmas Special is so funny. It's one of the worst things ever put to video and George Lucas all but denies its existence, but it is so. Fucking. Funny.

I guess it only aired once and then it was pulled. But in this day and age you can find anything, including copies of this beast.
