I caught a few minutes of Adaptation on TV tonight, and I'm a little drunk but I was reminded of how incredible that movie is. Every single line, every shot, is so deliberate. And it's so meta - which is a horrible cliche of course - but I haven't watched it in four or five years and I'm just remembering how fucking brilliant Charlie Kaufman is, doing meta-filmmaking like nobody else before or after him.

i opted to do that as well.

Take advantage of it, guys. Best way to minimize conflict on the board outside of hugs.

Thirty Minutes Or Less is not a instant classic, but it is definitely worth the price of admission and is as funny or funnier than anything that is out. I did watch the trailer after I watched the picture and found that it did include too much of the plot, and funnier parts, but that is not terribly exclusive to this particular flick. All motion pictures do that these days, unfortunately.

Denying yourself watching the trailers/tv spots is the only way to go.

Not watching the trailers is the most pretentious fucking thing a person can do. Because here's the thing: by going to see a movie, you're obviously allowing SOMETHING to influence you. Maybe it's the reviews, or word of mouth, or box office, or the cast or director or whatever. A trailer is just another one of those things. It doesn't spoil the movie experience. A comedy where all the funny parts are in the trailer is not the fault of the fucking trailer...it's the fault of a movie that could only provide 2 1/2 minutes of humor.

I don't agree with this, but not for edwin's stupid reasons. It's perfectly reasonable to not risk spoiling anything if you're already interested in a movie for the other reasons you listed. Sometimes it's fascinating watching a movie with no expectation of performance, cinematography or production design. That's how I went into "Midnight in Paris" and I couldn't be happier because of it. I don't know if I would've had the same reaction to it if I knew anything about "the twist" or there even that there was a twist (sorry people who still haven't seen it). All I knew is that it was a Woody Allen movie with Owen Wilson in Paris. Now, that's only because that movie was incredibly under-marketed. Personally, I love trailers, and I love trying to get as much info about a movie i'm interested in without spoiling anything big, but I completely understand believing trailers not to be necessary when deciding which movies to get interested in.

I started rambling there sorry.

The picture? Now this is pretentious. Who are you? Scorsese? You're only allowed to call movies a Picture if you're over 70.

I'm a little bit late on this but I finally saw Tree of Life and am honestly speechless. One of the most incredible movies I've ever seen

Well, to address that rather quickly, some time back there was a group of infantile trolls that went around registering on different fora and posting as 'DeltaSigChi4'. Not many could keep up the attention-to-detail required to sign every post; it is a habit I have kept. To this day I cannot create a gmail account because someone preemptively signed up under my unique screenname in order to impersonate. Bullying.

Makes sense. And unfortunate. You might want to do something like register deltasigchi4.com if you are concerned about it becoming an issue. Google will host e-mail for free, that way you could have e@deltasigchi4.com as your e-mail address (or [whateveryouwanted]@deltasigchi4.com). I missed out on [mylastname].com and I'm a little annoyed myself, having to settle for [mylastname].ca. Such is life.

It really is not a concern. It is simply a habit that I picked up. Permanent reminder that the world is chock full of cowardly bullies that have turned to the world wide web to fulfill their childhood fantasies of lording over others. SEE Stamper's e.g. above.
