All of the best parts of Thirty Minutes or Less are in the trailers.

Really? I thought it was a bit of a slow starter, but I found it pretty funny.

Thirty Minutes Or Less is not a instant classic, but it is definitely worth the price of admission and is as funny or funnier than anything that is out. I did watch the trailer after I watched the picture and found that it did include too much of the plot, and funnier parts, but that is not terribly exclusive to this particular flick. All motion pictures do that these days, unfortunately.
Denying yourself watching the trailers/tv spots is the only way to go.

No way. Movie trailers are the best part of the movie going experience. Gets the excitement level up.

Not watching the trailers is the most pretentious fucking thing a person can do. Because here's the thing: by going to see a movie, you're obviously allowing SOMETHING to influence you. Maybe it's the reviews, or word of mouth, or box office, or the cast or director or whatever. A trailer is just another one of those things. It doesn't spoil the movie experience. A comedy where all the funny parts are in the trailer is not the fault of the fucking trailer...it's the fault of a movie that could only provide 2 1/2 minutes of humor.

The thing about absolutes, is that most of the time, they are grossly incorrect. If I would not permit trailers to spoil pictures for me, why would I allow other things like looking at movie posters to spoil or influence me? The titles themselves do not even influence me because I watch nearly everything. E.g., in theatres locally, I have seen:
30 Minutes or Less; Cowboys & Aliens; Crazy, Stupid, Love; Glee the 3D Concert Movie; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: An IMAX 3D Experience; Horrible Bosses; Rise of the Planet of the Apes; and Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Everything besides Transformers wins a thumbs up from your loyal narrator. I imagined 30 Minutes or Less was about racing or sex. No idea who was in it, who made it, or what it was going to be about. No one could ruin it for me in casual conversation because we watched the advance premiere well before it was in normal theatres.

That was a perfectly respectable post. UNTIL THE LAST FUCKING LINE. Seriously, we all already think you're a douche, why keep rubbing it in our faces? Now read my sig to finish the post. As usual, HG says it best.

I finally decided to ignore Edwin Pagan's posts, so I'm not going to respond to that last one.
I caught a few minutes of Adaptation on TV tonight, and I'm a little drunk but I was reminded of how incredible that movie is. Every single line, every shot, is so deliberate. And it's so meta - which is a horrible cliche of course - but I haven't watched it in four or five years and I'm just remembering how fucking brilliant Charlie Kaufman is, doing meta-filmmaking like nobody else before or after him.

I actually don't mind his "no trailers" approach. I'm more concerned about the fact that he seems to have more disposable income than anyone I know but no ability to filter his use of it.

There are some occasions where I am really glad I never saw the trailer before seeing the movie. Inception, for example, was a total mind fuck x2 because I honestly had no idea what the movie was about. Same with Adjustment Bureau, it does add a level of excitement. But Edwin takes it to a whole new level of being a pretentious snob about it. I think drew is onto something here by ignoring that fucker.
