This post made me laugh out loud in a crowded breakroom at work, so everyone was looking at my computer when i scrolled down to your picture of a burning joint.
In conclusion, thank you very much Horned Gramma.

We all seem to dig music and movies, so how about some good movies centering around music? Let's try to stick to narratives rather than straight up concert films.
I love this "genre", but actually have limited knowledge other than the more popular stuff. Here's the ones I like:
-A Prarie Home Companion -Devil and Daniel Jonston -24hr Party People -Hedwig and the Angry Inch -Searching for the wrong-eyed Jesus -I'm Not Here -Pump up the Volume (from my youth) -Coal Minor's Daughter
That's all I got off the top of my head, by the way I'm not including musicals (which I have many) because all the greats I absolutely love from childhood to now would almost need to be treated like an album review. Okay so Hedwig is pretty much a total 100% musical.

Anyone seen Neil Jordan's "The Butcher Boy", that is a great movie.

Yeah I did, that was good. Anton Corbjn has a fun style to watch. Perhaps "fun" isn't the right word, lets say engaging.

..except for watching Sam Riley do a spot-on impression of Ian Curtis for two hours.

Also so is the part where he is walking to his job and the camera is tracking him from behind while "No Love Lost" is playing. I'm a sucker for those shots, they make anything and anyone walking anywhere look fun.

Just saw True Grit last night, and of course it was phenomenal. The Coens are just masters. I love how porpoisefully they avoid melodrama. When there's a big "showdown," shitty directors like Mel Gibson or something would have slow motion, close-ups of everyone's eyes, dramatic music...the Coens just show it like it is. They don't coddle their audience.

I love the Beatles' films - especially 'Yellow Submarine', even though I know they had very little to do with it. Richard Elfman's 'Forbidden Zone' is an all-time favorite and features Danny Elfman as Satan singing Cab Calloway.

Gonna just mention HIGH FIDELITY again.
"Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable, or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"
Extra credit points because one of my band's names is a reference to it.
