Saw The Town last night. Wasn't sure if I wasn't going to really get into it initially but by the end I was totally floored. Actually work up this morning still thinking about it. Definitely a great flick and it's kind of cool to see Afleck doing some non-retarded work again.

The only time I've ever liked Ben Affleck was in 'Mallrats', where he was playing a greasy, despicable cad. And that's because that is the only role he's ever been even a little bit believable in.

It's been awhile since I've seen Dogma, but Reindeer Games?
You could've at least said Good Will Hunting, or Gone Baby Gone.

it's hard to give Affleck much respect... but the guy did a great job with The Town. The film was made on less than 40 million dollars and was shot entirely on location in Boston--- and when you take into account there was no CG, blue/green screen, had an entire shootout scene actually filmed inside Fenway Park, it's becomes even more impressive.
it's fair to hate on Affleck for being a douchetard of an actor for most of the decade, but it looks like he's finally putting it all together nicely as a filmmaker.

I don't know if Affleck's got a masterpiece in him or anything, but neither did Eastwood. He'll just keep making competent movies that are substantial and fun to watch, and that's awesome.

Did anyone see the most recent Eastwood movie by the way? The one with Matt Damon? Was it any good?

I stopped with Eastwood after 'Mystic River'. He craps out a film once a year and releases it the last week of December; they're all formulaic, emotionally detached technical excercises genetically engineered to appeal to members of the Academy.

yeah, Clint's films are far more formulaic than that Yogi Bear flick...

Fuck yeah dude. That cartoon bear is gonna get hit in the face with a branch, and he's gonna steal a pic-a-nic basket, and he's gonna fart a couple times and maybe he'll find love or something. It's going to be hilarious, fuck you if you're too good for it. All you guys liked fucking 'Despicable Me'.
