I loved Silver Linings Playbook and this it was the best move of the year for me!

The film itself illustrates a sensitive portrayal of mental illness/duress that was both intimate and realistic. David O. Russell's direction style made a fictional work seem so realistic that I felt like I was apart of the family without any breaking of the fourth wall. The whole movie made me feel like I was taking part in a first person situation instead of viewing something in third person. Additionally, the movie's heavy subject matter juxtaposed with the lightness used in the illumination and finished tones created a color story of hope that ties in with the title.

Also - Bradley Cooper's performance! I would have never guessed how talented an actor he is. He truly makes the character come to life. The entire cast is amazing. Robert De Niro has phoned it in the last couple of years, in my opinion. Playing in many "comedic" roles and characters with a lack of depth, which does a disservice to a lot of young people that may not be able to understand his infamous talent. He reprises his title as one of the most important actors of a generation in this role. He is truly amazing. Bradley Cooper, De Niro, Jennifer Lawrence are all impeccable. They act so well that they become whole people, taking on the nuances and idiosyncrasies of each character in Oscar worthy performances. Bradley Cooper is easily at his career best in this movie.

That doesn't even start to explain the writing. David O. Russell truly, fuckin' truly, outdoes himself in this movie. The dialogue is so amazing. The reactions, the words that are used, the way people say things are so perfect. This is THE WAY PEOPLE TALK. It's not novel-like, full of one-liners and clever phrasing that makes many films' "in the moment" reactions unrealistic. It is truly communicative. I can't say enough about this movie so I will end here. Just go see it!

So saw Killer Joe last night....holy moly. Not sure if that was the best or the worst movie I have ever seen. It was certainly....something....

Everything I see promoting the new Evil Dead just makes me more excited. It could still be terrible, but none of the signifiers of a god-awful horror remake are there, and neither are any of the reservations that I usually have.

Watched 21 Jump Street over the weekend, which was surprisingly hilarious, and then the documentary Confessions of a Superhero, which was downright wonderful.

Heading out to Silver Linings Playbook here in about 45 minutes.

Read the screenplay already, it's whatever. All the fucked up shit is in the trailer you just saw.

Save your money and just revisit the original.

ARE YOU TRYING TO READ MY DIARY?

The original is kinda, like, unwatchable. In a good way, but still. Still stoked.

Les Mis was good but not great. It had some great moments, and some amazing performances, but there I certainly had some issues with it. Music was great as always, disregarding Russell Crowe's butchering of 'Stars' (one of my favorite showchunes of all time).

Ran home for a quick beer n' bowl and then heading back to the Fox Tower for the David O. Russell shit.

Wow! For the first time, maybe ever, I am actually kinda impressed by the academy and what they have nominated this year. However, if Quvenzhane Wallis doesn't win Best Actress I will cut them.

As usual the noms indicate all to clearly who the winners will be.

That Best Actor competition is unreal.
