Alien 3 is woefully under appreciated. The entire culture of the prisoners was so fucking cool.

I pretty much laughed my way through all of Prometheus. I thought the acting was cheesy as hell and every single thing that happened in the movie has already been beaten to death in every single other sci-fi horror movie ever made. I found the whole thing to be pointless and uninspired. It was, however, a fun watch.

I loved Alien 3, unabashedly. It was the first Alien movie I saw. Aliens is, yes, just about perfect (along with all James Cameron's movies).
I'm seeing Prometheus on Friday. Stoked.

Or True Lies?
Hell, not even The Abyss is perfect. The ending of that movie is one of the clunkiest, most poorly realized moments in cinema history.

When I say perfect, I don't mean great, in the same way that a girl who looks perfect is a lot less attractive than a girl isn't perfect-looking but even more attractive because of it. In other words, perfect in an objective sense, not in a relativistic sense (like "perfect for me")
But Cameron is the king of his craft of film-making. He has an incredible sense of composition, pace, and character. Basically he pushes every button exactly how it should be pushed.
Avatar's story is derivative, aggregated young-adult allegory (to me, calling something allegory is a grievous insult), but it's technically and cinematically beautiful and enchanting. A movie is a lot more than its story, and some would argue it's everything but its story.
I remember reading a review that said "this is destined to become the best grossing movie of all time," and that was after a disappointing first weekend. But that reviewer knew that James Cameron knew how to make a blockbuster that everybody would see, and had done that.

The end of The Abyss is one of my favorite movie moments ever. The good ending, I mean.
But I guess I wasn't thinking of True Lies.

Which do you consider to be the 'good' ending? The theatrical release ending or the "director's cut" ending (as if Cameron would allow a cut of one of his films to be released without his explicit approval of every shot)?
Spoiler that shit, if it's not too much of a hassle. Stormy hasn't seen The Abyss yet.
I KNOW!

Yeah I'm kinda jonesing for The Abyss now. Next to Aliens it is easily my favorite James Cameron film. Ed Harris is so fucking great.
Yo Stormy let's do that shit this weekend.
