That is one creepy ass post in The Movies thread. My brain is still destroyed from last night and it legitimately horrified me the first couple times I read it. |

At least that sounds like a semi-fun place to be on New Years depending on how that business club is. My poor friend Austin had to work in a movie theatre till 2am.

Also I hate when rape is used as a cheap plot device, makes my skin crawl. Sorry y'all. |

You might not realize it from the Hollywood marketing, but the movie (and moreso the book, whose original title in Swedish was "Men Who Hate Women"), is about the exploitation of women by men and women taking power over the men who dominate their lives. Lisbeth (Dragon tattoo lady) isn't really supposed to be sexy at all, and really in the American movie she isn't sexy too often...in the Swedish one she is almost never sexy. And the rape is very much an integral part of the theme.
So while it might not LOOK like it's your cup of tea on the surface, FD, you actually might find some common ground with it. #jussayin
Anyway, I saw that, War Horse, and Mission Impossible 3 over Christmas break. War Horse was hyper-sentimental but beautiful with a couple of great scenes, and MI:3 was a serviceable way to spend two and a half hours with my family.

It is SOFA KING funny. I recommend everyone who is a fan of the film get this book. Then, performance in general camping?

assuming drew is talking about MI4 (MI3 was the one with Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the bad guy), I saw that and war horse as well. I feel pretty much the same way about war horse that he did, it was definitely trying to be sentimental but it worked more often than not. The cinematography was wonderful and it wasn't as cheesy as I assumed it would be.
MI4 was pretty great as well. If you liked the other ones, this one is very well done. I'm glad that Brad Bird is making the transition to directing live action films, I think he'll be a great director in the years to come.
I also saw Sherlock Holmes which was alright but just completely preposterous. Moriarty was pretty underwhelming in the film and I'm much more excited to watch the new episode of the BBC's Sherlock that aired the other night.

I got an early screening pass for The Devil Inside this Thursday...I have a feeling it will suck (like most horror films that come out in January) but we shall see.

Damn if that first Spurlock Jones film wasn't a giant turd. Even if Tom Cruise is in it, I'd choose MI:3 just on general principle (although I haven't seen either film).
