When the Philistines Jr. released If a Band Plays in the Woods...? two years ago, I wrote to songwriter/producer Peter Katis to tell him how much I loved it and how excited I was that the Philistines had finally released a new record. Pete wrote back a day or two later to thank me for my enthusiasm, and told me that to show appreciation for my support he was going to send me a 'modest care package'. He said, 'I can be slow, but I won't forget.'
That was in 2010. Since that time, If a Band... has grown to be my absolute and forever most favorite record, and I have continued to correspond with Pete every couple of months. I remembered his promise that he wouldn't forget, but I stopped waiting for that package a long time ago. Pete Katis is a highly sought after producer (he's produced records for the National, Jonsi, Frightened Rabbit, We Were Promised Jetpacks, and most recently Trey Anastasio), and I know he's a busy dude; sending free stuff to some geeky fanboy can't be too high on his list of priorities.
Anyway, that package arrived this afternoon. And dudes because like holy shit, Pete Katis' notion of a 'modest' care package is kind of unreal. It contained copies of all of the albums on CD, copies of all of the albums on vinyl that were ever released on vinyl, a 2xCD of the covers album If a Lot of Bands Played in the Woods... signed by Peter and his brother Tarquin (who is also in the band), four 7" singles, a Philistines Jr. t-shirt, a Tarquin Studios t-shirt, and a copy of Trey Anastasio's Traveler on gold vinyl.
Of all the things represented in this thread that have ever made any of us smile, I don't think any smile was ever as big as the one on my stupid face right now.

I am smiling today because I am getting a Souly and a Burrito visit! (Miss you, Nadine!!!!!  )
Also I made me second bread attempt and hopefully it will be delicious when we eat it. I made the dough last night and after the first rise I stuck it in the fridge so I can bake it later. Hopefully you guys will get a super tasty dinner. (And homemade marinara)
