They simply think they can sell it for more. We didn't offer what they were asking (because nobody every does in real estate). The salesperson at the showhome actually flat out told us that this house was selling about 2 months ago for the price we offered. However, because the market is hot right now (because everybody is trying to sneak in a purchase before the deadline) they think they can get asking price for it.
From a business standpoint I get it. From a personal standpoint I fucking hate him.

In the grand scheme of things, Ryan the Realtor was the least of our issues. Good lord. What a fucking gongshow this whole process has been, and continues to be.

Haha you've obviously never lived in Vancouver. A year ago houses would routinely sell for 5-10% over asking price. Why anyone would do that is beyond me. That's like going into a store and seeing jeans for $50 and saying "I'll give you $60 for them!" Thankfully our market is finally heading in the downward direction so that isn't too common anymore.

Well if it doesn't sell in the near future then you might be able to get it for even cheaper and qualify under the new rules and pay less interest in the long run too. I don't know how much breathing room you have before you have to move out of your condo, but it might work out.
Failing that renting aint so bad. Finding a place is 100x less stressful since you know its not permanent so you don't have to be as picky and you can even try an area you might have been considering to try it out.

2 cats & a dog is going to be the reason we have a tough time finding a place to rent.

No worries. Once this whole thing is done and over with I'm sure I'll be a lot less jaded about the industry and will be able to talk about it with a level head.

It's officially sold. Now I need to find a house to buy (if the offer we put in today doesn't go through).
After that, all is well.

When are you in town? Also, it would be a bit of a mindfuck to meet you before FD & Souly.

We'll all be together so you can kill 3 birds with one stone. I'll be there the weekend of the 19th for Skrillex's Full Derp Trolley Fest.
