If I wanted to tell you that I farted, I wouldn't start a fucking thread about it. I would put it in the Every Thread Is Every Thread, and the two people who give a shit would comment there, rather than everyone having to see the "I FARTED" subject pop up everytime someone comments.

It doesn't really matter what you would or wouldn't do. Everybody has the option to make a thread if they feel that making a thread is justified. In this case, the threadmaker did so in the appropriate forum. If nobody is interested in it, it will disappear rather quickly. If they are, then making the thread is justified.
Just because you don't like it doesn't make it wrong.
