 Twin Peaks/David Lynch Geekery
« Thread Started on Mar 22, 2012, 7:15pm »

Considering how often we end up talking about Twin Peaks (and the work of David Lynch in general), I'm starting this thread so that we don't keep derailing the Food Thread and shit.

I know one or two of you are watching Twin Peaks for the first time as I write this, so everyone please carefully mark spoilers. Twin Peaks spoilers are of the most unforgivable variety.

Have you guys watched the Twin Peaks DVD feature about the annual festival in North Bend, where a nerd finds it necessary to explain just how difficult it would be for a fish to find it's way into the percolator, hence why that joke is so funny?

Haha, yeah I saw that.

True story: after our first, horribly foreshortened Sasquatch ('06), we ended up driving into North Bend to have lunch at the Double R for the first time.

The original structure was burnt down -- by an arsonist -- but the original sign is still there and they've rebuilt it so that it looks almost exactly the same. It's called Twede's now, though, and it is perversely (read: fittingly) decorated from wall to wall with stuffed Tweety Bird dolls. There's a bunch of neat Twin Peaks memorabilia in the back, including a great photograph of Kyle Maclachlan walking through the burnt foundation of the original building.

The cherry pie is fucking delicious; the coffee, not so much. But it is all served by bored looking waitresses who keep one eye on their soap operas at all times and who clearly have no regard for the culture that place represents. Which is pretty perfect.

No. But I love to hear Pete say it and I frequently imitate it.

Yes, the annual Twin Peaks Fest in North Bend. I can't bring myself to go to one because I love Twin Peaks so much that being around those people would make me chew my own face off.

Hey Horned Gramma - this might not be the right thread but we should talk Twin Peaks sometime! :)

Before my warehouse burnt down (possibly by the same arsonist as the Double R???) and before I switched to the graveyard shift I used to destroy documents once a month in North Bend. I ate at Twede's every time. Love the pictures, especially the creepy ones of Laura and of course every shot of Coop and Lynch together. Coffee is indeed horseshit, and I've never been much for pie, but that all-meat scramble is fucking INTENSE. Definitely an entire days worth of food for 10 bucks.

You should just go to North Bend sometime and have a piece of cherry Pie at the Double R Twede's if you haven't.

It is funny that while we are all talking about Twin Peaks my friend is texting me about it as it is her first time through.

Word dude. There aren't many things I love more than Twin Peaks (or David Lynch in general).

You've heard Crazy Clown Time, I assume?

We should just start a Twin Peaks thread.

I have theories.

We should because if we talk about it in the television thread it might spoil it for Geno.

I make my own annual trip to North Bend and Snoqualmie outside of the Twin Peaks Fest. :) Lee (manager of the North Bend Motel) always remembers me and hooks me up with the same room every time. Feels like home!

I love Twede's but walking inside is slightly heartbreaking due to all the Tweety Birds hanging everywhere. I like to hike to the bottom of Snoqualmie Falls and sit in front of the Sheriff's Station. I broke into the mill once and found all kinds of awesome things.

Yes! I love it. And I assume you've heard Dark Night of the Soul? I actually had the honor of working for David for 3 years and got to help out with press coverage for the album and its corresponding art exhibit. There are very few things in life that I love more than Twin Peaks as well. It is a very deep obsession.
