Update: my boyfriend and I are moving to Portland by the end of the year. Tips and advice are majorly appreciated. Keep in mind, we live in a shit hole in Arizona. (:

P.s I miss you all so much! Sorry I'm the biggest flake ever.

There's a wonderful documentary series on IFC called Portlandia. You'll learn everything about the local government, commerce, recreation, employment opportunities, and highlights of the music scene from that show.

First, housing is the big expense difference between all cities. It's not like you're going to pay $10 for a dozen eggs in Portland while paying $2.50 everywhere else.

There are a lot of pretty nice buildings downtown that are classified as low-income. It doesn't mean, "nearly homeless," so there is no shame in living there. At least a couple years ago, low income was classified as $28,500 a year, or less. Being able to make $14 an hour, and still save a couple hundred a month on rent because you are classified as "low income" is a pretty sweet deal. Most places south of Burnside between the river and HW 405 have income restrictions.

The best advice I can give: Don't live more than 50 blocks from the river, and make sure you live really close to a major busline.

I have been offering organs for months and no one has offered me shit. Apparently, dressing like a Pokemon is key in philanthropic support around here.

That sounded a lot bitchier than I meant it. Welcome back, Snorlax. :-D

Any kind really. I have experience mainly in offices, like receptionist jobs. I also worked in retail. But we both want full time jobs.

I know Portland's a tough ass place to find full time jobs right now, but I'm sure locals know better. My advice is start working at the first place you find because it's easier to find a job when you have a job.
