Here now. Table near the back on the west side of the bar. Busier than I thought it would be.

Had a great time. Womp managed to convince me that I should stretch some definitions. Shax, Womp, Sara(h) and I managed to spill beer on each other this evening. I firmly believe all parties were equally guilty.

Two conclusions:

1. Coachella 2013 is happening.
2. The Calgary board folks are good people all around

This intrigues me. I want to understand it a little better.

1. YES!
2. YES! (even though I've only met 1 out of 5, but I'm sure it's true)

Gah I got called in to work this morning. If I would have stayed to drink one more beer I wouldn't have been able to pick up this shift. It's a good thing I like money.

Plus side to this means that I am now going to buy a new BBQ and a rib night will in the works.

Hey does anyone buy pay as you go phones and calling cards when they go across the boarder. Is it cheaper? I Don't use my phone a lot but my phone bill is usually $60+ each year I go to Sasquatch.

Dunno. I just get an unlimited text bundle for $40 from Telus.

Pay as you go can be cheaper. I have a pay as you go Verizon phone, that I use when I head south. Phone cost $25 including $10 of "starter" credit. They have different plans, the one I do is $2 / day for voice (unlimited, including long distance in Canada / US, and only on days you make or receive a call) and $0.02 per text (sent or received). Compared to roaming on Telus this was a no-brainer for me, but your mileage may vary. I've had the phone for about 16 months, and travelled in the USA for 45+ days in that timeframe, for a total cost of under $100.

Obvious downside, you'll have a US phone number that nobody will know.

Other obvious downside, $15 gets you a... $15 phone. It makes calls and texts, but don't expect any more.

One other thing I forgot to mention re: pay as you go, you usually have to add money periodically or you will lose your remaining balance and your phone number. Also, there's no easy way to add money from this side of the border in most cases. I buy prepaid cards when I'm in the USA, then activate them periodically (which you can do on the internet) to keep my number active.

So either you treat it as truly disposable and walk away from a small balance, then re-activate, or you need to travel to the USA often enough to make it worth your while.

Would any of you lovely people be able to pick up a Sled Island ticket for me if I buy it off of Kijiji?
