so far, this year's crop of Republicans vying for the white house are just as bad as the group of Democrats from 2004 and probably twice as boring.

I definitely wouldn't call this GOP field boring. In fact, I think this will be one of the most interesting primary elections in my short 22 years.

i guess it all depends on perspective. i don't find any of these candidates remotely interesting or charismatic.

i should add, that while i think our current president is both charismatic and interesting i don't really find him to be all that effective as a leader.

so, i dunno. maybe both traits are highly overrated when it comes to the presidency.

It's true that Obama is kind of a pushover, but his ineffectiveness is largely due to the GOP's attempts to stonewall everything he tries to do. They're so fucking hell-bent on making the consequences of all the stupid shit the Bush administration did seem like Obama's fault that they don't care how far they drag the country down in the process.

Ahh it would appear we are simply using different criteria for "interesting". For me, the political bloodbath that is going to be the GOP Primary is enough to qualify it as extremely interesting. If anything, it is the extreme lack of qualifications in the GOP field that make me feel this way

I agree with all your points there stamper. A lot of my frustration towards Obama has ultimately come from frustration towards myself for more or less buying into a lot of his hype in 2008. Now I knew he wasn't going to change the world and rain free healthcare down upon us in his first term, but I was confident I was voting for somebody who could capitalize on the leftist-swing the country was taking following the Bush Era and lead the U.S. with a more left-center political approach.

Oh how naive I was.
