Thats some pretty shoddy journalism. Twice they mention that it's the first time the city used goats to control weeds, and they never answer so many pressing questions, such as:
1. 600 goats / 680 acres is over an acre a goat. How long is this going to take?
2. Do the goats only eat the weeds and not the other stuff? How does that work?
3. Do the goats like the weeds? Do they supply enough nutrition for them?
4. Is it $2100 per goat? Thats $1.26 million.
Yes, it's a slow day at work, but I want answers dammit! Dr. Garbanzo, get on it.
PS The "previous" and "next" articles along with the goat one really paints a picture of what life in Boise is like.

I got bored Davers, so here are your answers, as best as I could find on their FAQ section:
1. 600 goats / 680 acres is over an acre a goat. How long is this going to take?

-'Typically 100 goats will eat around a half acre a day depending on the amount of vegetation that is present and brush can take some extra time depending on the variety'

-Artichoke Thistle,Black Berry's*,Bull Thistle,Buck Brush*,Canada Thistle,Cheat Grass,Common Mullein,Common Tansy,Dalmatian Toad flax,Dandelions,Downy Brome,Horsetail,Indian tobacco,Ivy,Knap Weed,Kosia Weed*,Larkspur,Leafy Spurge*,Loco Weed,Medusa Head,Morning Glory,Musk Thistle,Nettle,Oxide Daisy,Plumless Thistle,Poison Oak,Hemlock*,Puncture Vine (goat heads),Purple,Lostrife,Purple Star Thistle,Russian Olives*,Sage,Scotch Thistle,Snap Weed,Spotted Knapweed*,Sweet Clover,Yellow Star thistle*,Yucca,Wild Roses*

- 'If you want us to just remove one noxious weed out of your pasture we move a lot faster'

-'Goats are also browsers. They love to eat forbs (weeds), brush and bushes. Thorns and plants that most animals won't eat, are a delicacy for goats. A goats will choose the forbs or brush 85% of the time compared to 13% for grasses.'

Just guessing here Davers, but I'm going to say its $2100 for the whole job.
