First, I'd like to thank all you for your kind words and congratulatory comments in this thread since I won the league two weeks ago. I'm constantly blushing. I had the lead for almost every day of the last four months, but CHUD got hot with about a month remaining, and made it close when my horrid starting pitching turned even worse. I kept thinking, "I bet I could randomly draw pitchers out of a hat next season, and end up with a better staff." Then I saw an article on the main espn fantasy baseball page comparing this years starting pitching rankings with next year's projections, and it pretty much verified my assumption. Eliminating the fifth starter, let's assume each team has four starters who will pitch every fifth day (which is erroring on the high side). That would mean any pitcher ranked above 60 was below average. The four starting pitchers I drafted and owned pretty much all year with their rankings are below:

Madison Bumgarner (14 this year, 6 next year)
Roy Halladay (69 this year, 18 next year)
Josh Johnson (64 this year, 28 next year)
Dan Haren (75 this year, 29 next year)

Minus Bumgarner, each was HORRIBLE this year, and is expected to be MUCH better next year. There is no trio in our fantasy league who came close to matching the underproduction of these three fucks, because the only other pitchers I see with similar crap numbers are Tim Lincecum, Matt Moore, and John Lester, and they were on different fantasy teams.

Speaking of how great Bumgarner was comparatively speaking, he was always the guy who would level out my staff after two or three terrible starts, until he completely lost his arm with a month to go. If the season lasted another month, I was going to drop him, and his poor showing in the post season isn't a surprise to anyone who owned him. I can't believe the Giants are even giving him the ball in the post season. He is either hurt, or completely worn out.

That was pretty much the point of this post, Baumgarner was my only good pitcher, and has been a piece of shit for the last seven weeks. Check his stats, fo real. In his last 9 starts (including the post season), he's given up 4 or more earned runs SEVEN TIMES. Can you say "Timmay?"

Ugh. Congrats.

My strategy of going out and getting wasted instead of participating in Draft Night didn't work nearly as well for me in fantasy baseball as it did for me in fantasy football. Oh well. Still, I finished in 3rd place - so what if 6 other teams essentially gave up like 30 games into the season - 3rd PLACE!!! :)

I'll see you fuckers next season!

I'm not one to brag, but I will.

The Giants finally realized Bumgarner is done for the year. Zito started in his place tonight, and Vogolgolgol is going game six, with Cain following (if necessary). Bumgarner will only pitch again in the playoffs out of long relief, where he currently belongs.

Who is interested in Fantasy Baseball this season? There are a lot of newbs, so who knows how many of them might like baseball. Post your interest now so I know roughly how many teams we need in the league. I'll create the league next week.

So far we have:
wonk
Stamper
Bad Choices
Gibbons
emptyfox (possibly)
CHUD (I'm assuming)

I planned on capping the league at 10 unless there was enough interest to warrant 12, but it doesn't sound like it. I'd rather get a couple randoms in the league than cap it at 8 or 6. Leagues that small or not very fun.

For the draft, does Wednesday, March 28th at 8pm work for everyone? I know that's 11pm Stamper's time, but I know a lot of us out west can't make it much earlier.
