I missed that because I got home late from work but it looks like it's all about wrapped up unless the Devils can pull a miracle.
I was kind of hoping the Devils would pull one of the biggest comebacks ever to end one of the greatest cup runs ever just because I wanted this series to get interesting because the games I watched had been pretty boring.

Well, I guess that's one thing to be happy about.
Congrats to the Kings, even if they did play some of the more boring playoff hockey I have seen in a while. (I know that sounds bitter but I really don't care that they beat the Canucks)
Pretty hard to argue with a 16-4 playoff record though, especially from an 8th seed team.

I always thought you were an advocate of "boring?"
I recall Barry Melrose saying on Sportscenter during the second round that the Kings are his favorites to win the cup. He said something about how they have the best goalie on the planet, and further complimented their style of play. That's an 8th seed he picked before the conference championships even started. Barry Melrose, so mulleticulous.

I love the way the Kings play. Tight systems. Everyone doing their part every shift. The ability to control the game without the puck. That's some sexy hockey for me!
They play a bit too defensive for my tastes. Quick played amazing and was a huge reason why that style worked so well for them.
Luckily there aren't 30 goalies in the league as good as Quick so their style can't catch on overnight.
Davers, what? Check out their blocked shots and average shots against per game. Quick was great, but the team played solid text book hockey every game. Team hockey!
"Tell me what's wrong dawg what the hell you damnin' 'bout? I'm your homie so just say what's on your mind."

I didn't mean to imply he was the only reason they won, but he was a huge part of their success. He had an amazing 1.41 GAA in the playoffs. You have to give some credit to the defence on that, but what about his .946 save average? Not a single goalie was able to do that over the regular season or in the playoffs.
Put an average goalie in net for the Kings and at the very least they would not have such an impressive record at the end of it all, and it's possible they would not have even made the finals at all.
My main issue with the Kings play is that they don't force the issue enough. They are fantastically patient and wait for the other team to screw up, make them pay and then hold that lead. Few teams in the NHL can sit on a 2 goal lead in the 1st and make it work, but the Kings can.
You can call me an uneducated hockey fan that just wants to see highlight reel goals one after the other, but that isn't it either. That Pittsburgh/Philly series was stupid in the other direction and would frustrate the hell out of me if I had to watch that on a regular basis.
The Kings kept amazing composure and indeed played text book hockey for all of the playoffs. It worked and good for them, but it still bored me. If I am paying $150 a ticket to see a game I don't want to see a bunch of guys out doing their job like they have done it hundreds of times before. I want to see some emotion; panic, anger, desperation and bad choices (not the ones that hurt people though). The Kings didn't seem to have any of that for almost the entire playoffs and that's what it was hardly worth watching for me.
