On a different matter, I'm making an announcement right now: Until there is some conclusive proof or LEGITIMATE reason to broach the topic, THERE WILL BE NO POSTS DISCUSSING A POSSIBLE FELIX HERNANDEZ TRADE.
Ken Rosenthal posted another stupid article about it this morning, which reminded me that oh my god people still want to talk about this. Admittedly, we're unlikely to get any Yankees fans in this thread, so this warning is probably unnecessary, but I'm putting it out there just in case some jackass wants to post a link or try to imagine what prospects would come back in such a deal.
No. There will be no discussion of that subject. Just don't do it.

I could see the ban hammer coming down for that one, honestly.

Yeah, I can tell this thread has the potential to really test my restraint. So far so good, though!

I enjoyed them. Points to the Mariners for having a sense of humor about the disaster that was 2010... and 2008.

Way excited to finally have watched Pineda pitch. Not thrilled, but he's young.

Got my ticket to Opening Day at the Coliseum. Had a horrible nightmare last night that Felix was injured and wouldn't be starting... yikes.

Opening day, you're not joking? So jealous. Are you sure he was injured in your dream, or traded? This post is already filled with subtleties. I'll be sitting at home keeping score for that game, opening day tradition.
I meant to share my other stories about historic baseball moments I've witnessed in this thread. Here is one more:
A player hitting for the cycle is almost as rare as a pitcher throwing a no hitter. Only four players hit for the cycle last season. September 29th, 2001, Miguel Tejada did it at Safeco Field. I didn't know he was going for the cycle during that at bat, but when he got the fourth hit, I quickly put the pieces together. "He just hit for the cycle!" I don't think anyone in the section I was in knew what a cycle is. I was sitting behind home plate, the only time I've ever sat there. Mariner fans are notorious for knowing very little about the sport, which I've already stated, but the ones sitting behind home plate are the worst of the worst. Rich people sit behind home plate, not the real fans.
The fourth hit was a "Grand Salami" by the way. A cycle including a grand slam had only been done five times in baseball history. I don't know if it has happened since.

Not joking. Did it last year, stoked to be returning for a second time.
I'd argue that most of the fans sitting behind the plate in any ballpark are the rich people or their friends who are just super stoked to be on TV. Pay attention during the first several games of the season and see if you agree.

i agree with that statement. people will do anything to wave or something ridiculously stupid if a camera is watching. people are stupid.
i once 8 rows behind home. they were comp tickets from a guy who knew a guy who had corporate seats there. the dude never even went to the games, he just used the tickets to give to people he wanted to impress. fucking douchebag. i hate people like that.
i will say that while it was cool to sit there, and have servers literally bring me hotdogs and beer, the seats were extremely overrated. I don't like watching a game through a net; kinda takes the fun out of the game. I'll gladly take seats along the first base line over seats behind home plate any day.
