I will concede that PNC Park is nicer than Turner Field - and I think it's rated as the most beautiful ball park in America right now. It has an incredible view of the Allegheny River as well as the Pittsburgh skyline... which is quite gorgeous, surprisingly. Add to that, in order to get the stadium, you have to walk across the Clemente Bridge (the city shuts the bridge down during game days) which also is a pretty neat experience. While the Pirates are probably the worst franchise in baseball right now - their stadium is incredible. Oh, and they've got some pretty tasty craft beers inside the park too.
However, I am looking forward to seeing Safeco this spring. Anyone else up for a game on May 31st? |

Awesome you were a season ticket holder. You've seen twice as many games in one season than I've seen in my life. I originally was going to move to Seattle instead of Portland, and my goal was to purchase season tickets, and buy a jersey/hat of every Mariner opponent, so I could always be rooting for the opposition.
I like the PNC model of building a smaller stadium, so it looks more full when the team is shitty. The A's closed the upper deck of the Coliseum for the same reason, to make it seem more intimate. Their new(est) plan (meaning the most recent shot down) was also for a much smaller park than others.
A game on the 31st won't work for me. I'd enjoy the heck out of it, but I have to work the next day.

Just to keep this thread going, and to reiterate I've seen some history in my 20+ games, my second game was in 1989. The lead off hitter hit a double on the first pitch, and apparently was spiked by the short stop. He didn't like it, and both benches cleared. You don't get to see brawls very often in baseball (even though it was more of a push pit).

Hello, The Baseball Thread!
I am a fan of (The New York Mets)! My favorite player is (Ike Davis)! He plays (first base) for the (team)! I also enjoy the work of (RA Dickey and Angel Pagan). They're going to win (80 or so, I hope) games this year! I have seen them play (I think four?) times! They won (two) of them! Right now I live in (Pittsburgh), though, so I get to go to (Pirates) games and watch them (fuuuuuuck).
I am excited for the (2011) season!

The only baseball games I've seen were the '19 world series where the "fix was in" and the Germans were beat! I also saw a game in Cleveland in the summer of '74, everyone seemed to have a lot of change in their pockets coming into the stadium.
Baseball's the one with the bat right?

I've been bred to be a baseball fan.
My grandfather was the director of broadcasting for the Milwaukee Braves back when the Braves belonged to the state of Wisconsin. He then went to work for the KC Royals toward the end of his career. Though the Royals are not much of a team to boast these days, I certainly think good ol' grampa had a kick ass career. In addition to all of that, my mother was introduced to and ended up dating Hall of Famer, George Brett years and years ago. Sigh--life woulda been much different if I called Brett daddy, yeah?
Enough of the bragging--I've been to more stadiums than these, but I can't remember which ones I'm missing -Fulton Co. Stadium -Turner Field -KC Royals (Kauffman Stadium) -insert about 3 more and by May, I'll have seen a Mariner's game.

^^OMG! That's disgusting!! HAHAHA! I stand by my statement--life woulda be MUCH more different if Brett was daddy. I'm glad I wouldn't have to hear more about his inability to control his bowel movements. Ha!
My favorite part of the video is of the other players slowly walking away and he's continuing to tell the story!

I think it's preferable to be American and associated with baseball than it would be to be Canadian and associated with hockey.
Drunken assholes nationwide are clamoring to have the 'America's Pasttime' title handed to football. These people are permitted to wang my chung.

The only game of the last World Series I missed was the Sanchez start when he hit Utley. (I was at Treasure Island.) I later watched replays and was hugely disappointed when no one got hit.
