Just purchased a plane ticket to fly into Oaktown for the Baltimore series (Sep. 14th-16th). Hoping by the time that rolls around the A's will be looking to knock B-more out of contention with a couple/three wins. I can't believe that I'm still this excited (NOTE: I'm always excited but not "this") about A's baseball in late August. LET'S GO OAKLAND!

Nice. You sure love the Orioles. If MusicFestNW wasn't the same weekend as the A's being in Seattle next month, I would be there. I'm waiting to see what happens the next couple weeks, but I definitely have a trip to Oakland on my radar for the Mariners series in late September, and/or the first round of the playoffs. GO SAN JOSE (boom boom, boom boom boom)!

Fucking, O's man. Can feel the excitement in Baltimore here in Boise. Its just a damn nice feeling to have people excited about the fucking ORIOLES with the Ravens playing a MNF game for their opener.
Hope Markakis can make a speedy recovery but his hand/wrist has to be fucked.

Hello there. We're the Oakland Athletics and we now own the second best record in the American League. We've played the best baseball of any team since the All-Star break. We are currently rolling out a 5-man rotation that consists of 4 rookies and a guy who's now made 4 starts following his quick recovery from Tommy John surgery. Our lineup is full of vagabonds, castaways and defectors. Anyway, it's nice to finally meet you, ESPN.

The A's are really fun to follow this season. Shit, the orioles are really fun to follow as well. This September is going to be wicked fun.

This is fucking amazing. The Orioles are much bigger a surprise than the A's in my opinion. I didn't think the Orioles would ever make the playoffs in the stacked AL East, where the Yankees and Red Sox always dominate, and where Toronto and Tampa have been really strong recently. Congrats Dr. Garbanzo, it's been a really long time for Orioles fans.
On the other hand, the A's were supposed to suck (like the Orioles), and they did suck the first two months of the season. The fact the A's were one of the worst teams the first third of the season, then came back to pretty much own all of MLB over the last four months is more impressive (in my opinion).
The Orioles are a bigger surprise, but they played well all year. What the A's have done the last four months is probably the biggest turn-around us baseball fans have seen since we've been alive.

I feel confident that the A's will take at least 1 game from the Rangers over the next three days, thus clinching a WC spot. However, aside from sweeping the Rangers and taking the division, there is nothing I want more than for C.J. Wilson to take the loss tonight in Seattle. I dislike Mr. WIlson at least as much as he claims to dislike pitching in Oakland.
Hey badchoices, HERE'S TO KINGS COURT!!!

Let's fucking do it! All I have to root for now is winning and kicking the angels out of the playoffs officially. This is going to be a fun October though

Ah, nothing like being slightly irrationally vindictive. I've had a couple vindictive moments this year myself, most notably, Hawk saying the Sox would eventually finish above the Tigers because they are a better all around team. The Tigers are fucking scary, and the Sox had no business hanging with them this long. Fuck Hawk.
My favorite though was when the Devil Rays announcers spent literally four innings explaining how their pitching staff is the greatest of all time. The Rays did finish first in the AL in ERA, but one would think best of all time might equal a title or a playoff appearance, especially since 20 years ago, only four teams made the playoffs. How can you say your staff is the greatest of all-time if your team finishes sixth (or seventh) in your league? Great pitchers win. Fuck Tampa Bay.
But fuck that too, THE A'S MADE THE PLAYOFFS! HOLY FUCKING SHIT, and they knocked out the Devil Rays and the hated Halos on the same day Hawk's team was eliminated. It's too good to be true.
THE A'S MADE THE FUCKING PLAYOFFS!
PS: Gibbons is on the way to the liquor store to buy some Bubbly. We don't have this option in Oregon.

This 1-and-done Wild Card game stuff is just weird. It honestly doesn't even feel like the playoffs. It's like a forced 163rd of the season.
If they're going to add another wild card team into the mix, it completely baffles me that they couldn't make the Wild Card round a 3-game series. What's the point of a one game playoff? To prevent the playoffs from going into November? If the world series goes to 7-games, the final game will be in November anyway. So what's two or three more days?

Hopefully my co-workers are comfortable starring at my boner!
THE OAKLAND ATHLETICS ARE THE BEST STORY IN BASEBALL PERIOD
Now let's win 2 more and take the division.
Cracked my first beer as Balfour took the mound (approximately 11:05 MDT) in the top of the 9th. Had polished off the sixer just before midnight. Fortunately for my apartment all of the celebratory brew ended up in my stomach.
