All these psychedelic cats remind me of one of my favorite artists, Louis Wain. In the mental health field he is somewhat prolific. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia early in his career and painted throughout the progression of the disease. To me it is an incredible representation of what the mind of a person suffering from schizophrenia goes through as the disease increases in severity.

Before the onset of his symptoms his cats looked like this:

Then they progessively became more distorted/psychedelic. The expression on the cats faces appear confused, worried.

As fucking awesome as those final pieces are, it's a little bit sad because the crazier his drawings/painting got the more debilitating the disease became in his life.
