What's the deal with American's not having passports? Every year at Sasquatch we meet people from some nowhere town like Billings Montana or Corvallis Oregon and they want to come visit us but the lack of passorts is always an issue.

We didn't used to need one to go to Canada. Even though I have moved at least 20 times in my life I have only been to Okinawa because I was born there and Canada before you needed a passport. I haven't really had many opportunities to travel abroad.

In America, we have this thing called the 'Lower Middle Class'. These unfortunate souls can neither afford passports nor any conceivable reason to use them.

Passports are expensive in America? I think they are like $50 in Canada and they are good for 5 years. If they are significantly more than that down there then I guess it makes sense most people don't have them unless they have a big trip lined up.

I don't think they are that expensive but I have never had impetus to get one.

Yeah, I really only have a passport 'cause I have to have one to go to Sasquatch. It's useful now if I feel like jetting to Mexico (haha) but that was the only reason I made myself get one.

Now is a bad time to get one because everyone who got them five years ago when the new regulations came in are renewing them. Huge delays.

It's true. Mexico is dangerous and (I was having this conversation with Souly) Americans are taught that Canada is a silly backwards country that is only useful for draft dodging and commuting to Alaska.

But like, there's places in the world that are cool. Like Prague. Prague is great, you should all totally go there if you get the chance. I was all like "Woah, this place is great". They have a castle that took 1000 years to build. It's amazing.

And there's a bar with taps in the middle of the table. And you pour your own beer, and a screen keeps track of it. Theres a giant projector that shows how much beer every table has drank. We drank 8 litres (2 gallons) of beer and it came to $30 American.

Sorry, I'm just on a bit of a high from my trip since it was the first time I've ever been to Europe and I was absolutely blow away by how great it is and think everyone should go now.

I was, like, digging change out of the couch cushions to afford a train ticket to Seattle in a couple weeks but I guess Prague sounds nice too. I need to discuss this with my accountant and my travel agent.

I know it's not possible for everyone all the time. 3 years ago I never would have been able to afford the Eurorail pass, let alone the plane ticket and accommodation. But yeah, I'll shut up now.

Maybe you should try stealing music, it makes saving money way easier. [image]

I've been remembering about Dre but forgot about Prague. Tres gauche.

But I am glad you had a great time. It sounds rad.

Passports are like $130 or $160. I had to recently report mine lost or stolen as I couldn't find the sucker. It was in my backpack. FUDGE!!! Now I have to drop the aforementioned dollar amount on a new one. CHUD, coming soon to a Canadian Province near you.
