 The Shameless Plug Thread
« Thread Started on Feb 8, 2011, 1:38pm »

So, I'll probs get lambasted for starting another thread, but whatevs. Dr. Garbanzoured I'd create a distraction to the repetitive bitching about the line-up

We all seem to have pretty cool lives--why not share? I've read that a ton of you work for recording studios, play instruments, know famous people, etc, etc. If there's something cool going on that you'd like to share, go for it!

I mentioned a few days ago I worked for a popular non-profit radio station here in Pittsburgh called WYEP. We play a ton of eclectic stuff-- indie, alt. rock, and the occasional bluegrass and reggae. I'm a big promoter of the station just because it isn't associated with any b.s. corporate standards and we get to play whatever the hell we want.

I'll be on-air from 8-midnight, eastern time. You can stream live from their web page at http://wyep.org/

I programmed my show last night and its kind of an ode to the Sasquatch 2011 that never was--Pixies, Blur, BoH, Phoenix, Arcade Fire etc. There will also be a lot of Sasquatch artists on there, like local natives, The Decemberists, Death Cab, etc.

So, if you're bored tonight, show the little radio host some love. :)

Any pinball-theme preference? I played a mean Terminator-pinball at a seedy bar a few times in Atlanta. I'm no wizard, though.

There's better and worse machines; I'm a terror when it comes to T2, though. I'm a big fan of the Spider-Man machine; great flow. My preference are the Williams-Bally machines from the late 80's to late 90's, though.

Portland is the pinball capital of the world, though, there's a very healthy culture here. Several leagues, organizations and 'gangs' make for constant casual flow style competition. One of the many reasons why Portland is heaven on earth.
