What the fuck?!

I honestly don't know if I liked that finale or not. I will say the unexpectedness of it all was very fitting, based on everything else that has happened this season. Ultimately, the episode featured the best and worst of Homeland.

The worst? The scene where Quinn threatens Estes? What was that all about? I'm not sure if I didn't like that scene because 1. it's completely out of character for Quinn, 2. it was a little too over the top (even by Homeland standards) or 3. they totally rewrote that scene after the CIA explosion scene - and needed to add some extra mystery about who Quinn really is - DID QUINN BLOW THE BUILDING UP TO GET EVEN WITH ESTES?! IS HE WORKING WITH TERRORISTS NOW?!!!? WHY DIDN'T THEY SHOW HIM AFTER THE EXPLOSION? WHERE IS QUINN?! AGH!. Bottom line, the scene was, well, odd. And sloppy.

The best? Totally the scene at the end, when Saul was speaking Hebrew to the dead bodies of the attack, fully assuming Carrie was among the dead, and then she walked in. The silent exchange they had was absolutely flawless.

Almost the best? When Brody finally confessed to his daughter that Carrie wasn't batshit crazy on the day he strapped a bomb to his chest. That scene had been a long time coming, and the payoff totally delivered.

I thought it was the best episode of the season. For a show that constantly makes you think it's about to run out of places to go, it just keeps finding ways to make you think it was "planned all along." By the way, is that the worst trope in modern cinema/television? "HE PLANNED IT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING" as if there are these people out there who can predict everyone's actions at all times and has a plan for it. Whatever, though, it was a good episode and I can't wait for next season.

I was hoping Brody would die, but I knew it wouldn't happen.

Can we have a new terrorist already? Please! Mine's old and smells like dog food.

But really, I don't care about Brody and his backpack of fake identities and I especially don't care about his family and however that whole situation plays out. Hopefully he gets hit by a truck when crossing a street at night because he forgot to pack safety reflective gear in his You-Can-Never-Turn-Back bag. That's unfair as I guess it was Carrie who packed it.

Anyways, do away with Brody, re-instate Carrie (she deserves it guys!), and send her to some foreign local where she takes risks she shouldn't and gets in over her head but because her head is so buoyant with brilliance and craziness she keeps right afloat EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE ELSE IS DOUBTING HER AND MAKING IT VERY HARD FOR HER TO SAVE THE WORLD!

This season was actually a huge improvement over the last four. It's still not High Television, but it's great high television.

If you catch my drift.

The hell are you even talking about. It was the exact same asinine shit as every other season, with the single exception of the late-developing subplot
LaGuerta investigating Dexter -- which they didn't even follow through on because they have no fucking idea what they are going to do about it yet.
I seriously hate that show.

I don't know,
Deb finding out Dex was a serial killer was fucking intense as shit
and Isaak Sirko was a badass. Dexter is the most pointlessly formulaic TV show ever, but when they've got a good villain that shit is compelling. Of course,
when he died that was a huge fucking letdown, and the hot blonde could've been dropped altogether,
but up until that point it was season 1-2 quality, which is damn entertaining.
Solid finish to a pretty terrible season. They were kind of able to hit reset for next year, which is good. Finally got rid of Brady, which they should have done about 10 episodes ago. Their "romance" was so incredibly awful. Ugh.

It is staggering how incompetent every group in this show is. So a massive funeral with a bunch of high ranking officials, and someone can go willy-nilly move a car in the parking lot? Come on.

Saul is the best. So it sounds like....maybe Saul and Carrie vs. F. Murray Abraham and Quinn next year? There's no way they got a guy who won an oscar to only have about 2 minutes of screen time in a season, Abraham will definitely have a big role next year. That could be pretty cool.
