Just caught up on Homeland. This last episode was excellent, and I think the rest of the season is going to be awesome. Future seasons...who the fuck knows. They should ditch the Brody is a mole storyline after this season and move to something else, something plausible but different.

I never watched 24, but I love this show because every time you feel like you know what's going to happen eventually, that thing happens right away and then you're like, well fuck, what next? Like when Brody was arrested. I was like, shit, I wasn't expecting that for another two seasons or so.

Also, Mike is my favorite character, Dana is going to be super hot, and Chris is a goon. And the SNL skit finally makes sense to me and is hilarious.
That said, I've really enjoyed the majority of the adaptations that have come before. IT, while really only loosely based on the novel, is a classic. The Stand pretty much nailed it, and the Steven Weber Shining was decent. The Langoliers gave me fucking nightmares (shut up).

I am going to have to check out the Stand again I guess. The only time I watched it all the way through was when it was actually first playing as a miniseries. I remember it being alright then, but it seemed to have a B movie quality to it.

There are still several movies I need to check out. I remember Dreamcatcher being pretty fucking creepy to me, but I don't think I was able to give it my full attention when it was playing. That is one I'd like to revisit.

Dreamcatcher was a turd. Really awful.

The Stand isn't perfect, and the early 90's tv movie production value definitely shows, but as an attempt at adapting The Stand it's pretty damn great.

I keep hearing that Ben Affleck is intending to direct a big screen version, but so far those rumors haven't amounted to much action.

Yup. That Dexter season finale was pretty underwhelming.

It was really good as a regular episode, but pretty shit for a finale. Especially after the last 3 minutes of last year's.
What the fuck?!

I honestly don't know if I liked that finale or not. I will say the unexpectedness of it all was very fitting, based on everything else that has happened this season. Ultimately, the episode featured the best and worst of Homeland.

The worst? The scene where Quinn threatens Estes? What was that all about? I'm not sure if I didn't like that scene because 1. it's completely out of character for Quinn, 2. it was a little too over the top (even by Homeland standards) or 3. they totally rewrote that scene after the CIA explosion scene - and needed to add some extra mystery about who Quinn really is - DID QUINN BLOW THE BUILDING UP TO GET EVEN WITH ESTES?! IS HE WORKING WITH TERRORISTS NOW?!!!? WHY DIDN'T THEY SHOW HIM AFTER THE EXPLOSION? WHERE IS QUINN?! AGH!. Bottom line, the scene was, well, odd. And sloppy.

The best? Totally the scene at the end, when Saul was speaking Hebrew to the dead bodies of the attack, fully assuming Carrie was among the dead, and then she walked in. The silent exchange they had was absolutely flawless.

Almost the best? When Brody finally confessed to his daughter that Carrie wasn't batshit crazy on the day he strapped a bomb to his chest. That scene had been a long time coming, and the payoff totally delivered.
