I just started The Wire the other night. About to start episode 3, but I'm not totally drawn in yet. Someone tell me it's awesome and encourage me to stick with it.

Seasons 3 and 4 of The Wire are some of the finest works of television that I have ever seen.
Keep pushing through. I was in a similar situation with Season 1 when I first started watching, but trust me, it will be worth it.

The Wire is pretty fucking incredible, but it's nothing at all like Breaking Bad or Weeds or Mad Men or...anything, really. It's all balls. No dream sequences, no melodrama, no convenient plot devices, no neat conclusions. It's tough to adapt to that, especially because we're used to artsier TV shows with dramatic scores and moody lighting and symbolism and stuff like that. This is just telling a story as truly and accurately as possible.
That being said, it's also enthralling, and I think about halfway through the first season you'll be in love.
