'Oliver's Army' is probably my favorite Elvis Costello song. Soooo fucking good.

As far as as Elvis goes, the earlier in his career the better. My personal favorite is Punch the Clock, which was released in 1983, but I wouldn't venture much further than 1987 or so.

The comp The Best of Elvis Costello and the Attractions is a greatest hits collection on par with Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits and The Best of James. Elvis' work with the Attractions is by far the best; the stuff he did with like the Brodsky Quartet or the Impostors isn't nearly as interesting.

Definitely check out My Aim is True, as well.

Oh, and if you're looking for some chill-out schmaltz, the record he recorded with Burt Bacharach in 1998, Painted From Memory, is pretty good. 'Toledo' from that record is a great fucking song.

Exactly correct. I am a pretty massive Elvis Costello fan and I love it all but when it comes to EC, you'll know when it's time to move on.
