Hey ladies! It'll be my first year this year, and it's looking like I'll be going solo! Any and all help is welcome! :D

Props for doing this alone. Once you get there, though, you wont feel like it. Promise. You're going to have a blast. I have friends who go to Bonnaroo and I've been to Lollapalooze and Sasquatch. From what I've heard and compare, Sasquatch is way better than the other two.

If you're camping, get to know your neighbors. People at these festivals are usually pretty chill and are willing to help you out. We had good neighbors last year.

For a general suggestion, when the line-up is released, try to get really organized and know what bands you're going to see, know the stages, and know how long their sets are. That way, you can eliminate unnecessary traveling around the area. The more organized you are, the more bands you'll be able to see.

As far as food goes, the food area has a lot of choices, but try to keep it simple with pizza and stuff--nothing too exotic or fancy. There was an overwhelming salmonella outbreak at Sasquatch last year. Gross.

Last year was my first and I got really lucky with the weather. Apparently in years past, there has been very unpredictable weather. Prepare for the worst and pack a change of clothes with you when you get into the festival.

I can't stress enough the importance of comfortable shoes. Try tevas or sanuks. I usually wear flip flops, but after awhile the thong between your toes will start to hurt.

Remember to stay super hydrated. Drink more water than you need to--they usually say that once you're thirty, you're already dehydrated.

I'm more of a craft beer/micro-brew drinker, but be prepared to literally pay an arm and a leg for domestic beer. Last year, I drank the good stuff at my campsite and occasionally shelled out the $9 for PBR.

Some awesome info! Thank you! I feel like I kind of know what I'm doing cuz I've done roadtrips for concerts, and camped the whole time, but this is going to be a lot different I think. I'm really really excited for this. Do they usually release the schedule at the same time as the lineup?? I know some festivals don't release the schedule until really late, which is frustrating and a half!

The schedule isn't released until much later. Usually early May. Looking back at last year I think it was around May 10th.

Hi Ladies :)
So, I will be at the Sas this year (my first), and I am so happy to find this thread! I've actually been to Bonnaroo the past 4 years, and have found many many MANY tips for ladies on the Inforoo.com "The Girly Fashion Thread." However, knowing that this fest is pretty different from Roo (temperatures alone...) then I hope to hear some good tips regarding clothing etc as Sas approaches.
One thing I can say if you are a dress-wearer like me, at Austin City Limits last year, it would definitely get really chilly at night. But low 80s during the day. So I'd rock a sundress, and pack leggings in my camelbak and tie a hoodie to the pak as well. So when the sun dropped, I was covered.
Any thoughts from any of the Lady Sas vets out there?

I want to do Bonnaroo so bad!! I was going to go this year, but I thought I should probably do one a little closer to home for my first festival.. Plus I should probably get a new car before I attempt to drive it 37 hours away.. 14 isn't so bad. :D

It does get quite cold at night. Bring layers. Leggings are a good idea. They are warm and take up next to no room in your bag. They also can be put on under your dress in a fairly public area, which is a good thing, because trying to change a complete set of clothes in a honeybucket in the dark is less than ideal.

Just one. Dont call it 'Sas'. Abbreviations are dumb. :)

But seriously, Yes to Leggings and layers! Nights are chilly - so be prepared.

Am I the only one who has an awkward crush on Britt Daniel from Spoon?

I met when last year at Lolla while shuffling down the streets of Chicago and then saw him open for Arcade Fire in Atlanta two days later.

He was a pretty chill dude. Just wanted to put that out there.

Baggy-legged pants, socks & jackets/hoodies tied around your waist give more options for smuggling in your flask(s).

Some can wear sandals or flip-flops all day, but for my money, if there will be no showering I can't stand having dirty feet.

Sunscreen (I like neutrogena ultra-dry - it doesn't make you feel all greasy) is a must as there is pretty much no shade anywhere. Last year my black travel umbrella was invaluable.

We always bring in sandwiches and other snacks to avoid having to eat the over-priced food at the venue. There's no getting around the $9 silver bullets, though. Warm vodka & whiskey don't really wash down your special brownies as well as you might think.

The vodka goes really well with the large lemonade though...

Yeah, that it does. But why oh why did they have a slushy stand in 2009 only to take it away from us in 2010?

I'm bummed I missed this slushy stand! Fingers crossed they'll bring it back!
