 Rockface?
« Thread Started on Feb 28, 2008, 3:51pm »

A few of you have mentioned the rockface? I imagine this is a place to sit and watch the concerts. Is this spot the premiere spot? What is so good or bad about it? This is my first Sasquatch Festival and I am so stoked!!!! Any insight is appreciated. Also, what is the going rate for food?

I am a pretty picky eater. I find the food to be repulsive and grossly over priced. For a personal pizza its like $7 for rice bowl its like $9. I typically bring a PB&J in my backpack.

The rock face is tough to explain. The gorge has some great places to sit. The "hill" is just that, a giant hill. The grade is way to steep and if the grass gets wet its very easy to fall on (trust me). Some people like to hill because it is very relaxed. Down in front of the hill is a series of plateaus that form the rock face. They are much more comftrable as you have something to lean against. The down side is that its jagged rock and cement that is not at all even. I would hardly call it the premiere place to sit but it is my faviorte place. You are much closer to the stage and can typically see pretty well.

Down below that is the sound board and the golden seats that are right next to it. They are guarded by security and security takes their job very serious. Dont try and sit in them even when nobody is looking, they will only ask you to leave and it causes a scene. In front of that there is a big GA area, typically where people stand. Its concrete and hot but much closer to the stage. If you want to be down in the middle of it this place is a good start. There is a big rail that goes the width of the state that prevents to many people from coming within about 100 feet of the stage. This area isnt reserved or anything but for safety reasons they only let so many pepple in at a time. I have yet to Dr. Garbanzoure out the science of it because sometimes its packed to the rails in there and other times there is 50 feet of open space. If you want into that area and all the way up to the stage you stand and wait by the gates like caged cattle. Then whenever they decide to let more people in they do so and then mark it off again. in 2006 i had to wait through like 4 herds to get in there for Death Cab and Beck.

I am an old man (25) so I will be sitting on the rock face with my wife when we are hanging out at the main stage. Its comftrable and near the drink stations and provides a pretty decent view.

Have fun

You guys are WAY too young to be calling yourselves old; I'm 48, my HS buddy is 47 and this will be our 2nd Sasquatch! You're never too old to rock!

Spokane. One of my best friends lives in Portland. She goes to PSU. The city is a little bit granola for me, but to each their own

It is granola here, but I love it. Born and raised so I don't really know anything different. Love Spokane though, cute little city.

I know that in relative terms we aren't old, but compared to a lot of the kids that will be there we are ancient ;). And sometimes I feel ancient, hehe. Glad to know there will be people of all ages. I imagine with The Cure and REM headlining that a lot of the people will be my age or older!
