Whaa? I felt like we were pretty close, weren't we? We were maybe eight or nine minutes' walk from the general store, and from there it's a little more than ten minutes to the gates. The walk last year was a breeze.

2009, shit. We were right along the fence at the very back of the back pasture. Holy balls, now that was a walk.

We were parked at the upper most tip of the circle, so I guess you could be further away, but it certainly wasn't the closest either.

I think I said it before, but it depends which type of "yellow shirt" you get to deal with:

a) High school aged kid who could give a shit

or

b) Mulleted ex-con who is way overzealous with his perceived authority (this guy will run you down, and you WILL REGRET IT!!!)

The later you arrive, the closer you get to the gorge. That's the way it seems to work, unless you have premier.

Fuck that. Last year we had a convoy of like 12 vehicles, and they kept trying to separate us. We just pulled over, got out of the vehicle and made all our friends pull over behind us. Every time the ex-con type would try to make us move we told him to back off we will move when we're ready.

We made enough room to let others pass us while we got our group together. They tried to cram us in with everyone else so we told them no. Put us in a row with no cars so we can do what we want.

As long as you have the numbers, know what you want, and demand it, they will just let you do whatever you want. We ended up with enough space to squeeze in friends that arrived the next day.

It sounds like the vehicle placement is unfairly random. Last year my group arrived around 5:00am on Friday, and we camped literally 50 feet from the general store...and the cops.

I've arrived at the same time for the last 2 years, around 2:30a.m on Friday. There has been no one there to park us, just a guy pointing in a direction they'd like, but we just drove as close to the gorge as we could both times, and no one said a word to us. I think getting there at night is the way to go. that's just my experience though.

Edit: 2:30 am on the day the fest starts.

On the theft issue, are things like ice chests, camp stoves, chairs, lanterns etc. likely to be taken? I hear flags are at risk...

I have never had any of that stolen. We usually put anything that will fit under the car( chairs umbrellas etc) there, and anything expensive in the car. We have never had anything stolen. Do not leave a cooler full of beer, or any alcohol in plain sight, it will be gone.

I think the general rule: Put everything out of sight that is important, and lock up in your trunk everything that is expensive. There is not a specialized Oceans 11 crack team here, it is drunk people, seeing some cool shit left out and playing with it, and likely nothing much more than that.

Haha, you must be going waaaaay back if you're reading about flags being stolen. I think that was an argument between me and dontoro in like my first week on the board.

Hehe. Good times.

Dontoro is a real nice dude, as it turns out. Fancy as fuck in his glowdogular matador getup or what the fuck ever he was rocking. That doesn't mean that I still don't totally support a game of acid-soaked capture the flag.

Or acid-soaked whatever. I'm not particular.

Gonna try and talk my friend who has a surplus of such acidic things into letting me test it out to see if I want to buy some for Sasquatch.

I learned last year that shrooms at Sasquatch is a terrible idea for me. I learned in Dayton this winter that i can be out of my mind with Lucy and party till the sun comes up with some random guy I met named johnny blaze in a giant warehouse with 300 of my new closest friends.

Coincidently, I'm going to Squatch with my friend named lucy.

Well hold on just a minute, have we got a legit old-timey hippie up ins?

I call for a conflation of danl46's blanket fort and Dr. Garbanzo's warehouse juice.
