from what i've read, wildhorse has much cleaner facilities and they shut people up at midnight for those of us (myself included) that enjoy a good night's sleep. don't get me wrong i love the sasquatch afterparties, but it was a little over the top when people were still making tons of noise until 5am every morning last year in the general campground. the biggest deal for me is the price, it's $90 total for friday, saturday, sunday and monday nights, with no extra fees. if on the other hand you go for a premium site at the gorge campground, it's $160 BEFORE ticketmaster applies their convenience charges. so you're going to be saving at least $80 at wildhorse for a comparable (but better) campsite.

They didn't quite shut people up at midnight but would ask you to keep it down at a certain point in the evening. We were all hangin' out drinkin' & listen to chunes when they came over and asked us to bring it down a notch [we weren't too loud to begin with] at about 2am. The best part of the campground is the "cafe" [which had the best breakfast burritos in the world] and the lush, green grass!

Ok, first timer here. Have a few questions.

1st. Reentry. I know it's been covered somewhat in this thread, but I'm a little confused still. Is that reentry via vehicles or at the venue itself? I'm used to Bonnaroo/Rothbury camping, so it's quite different.

2nd. I've gathered this is not the standard park-by-your-car festival type camping, so how far is the walk to the campgrounds from the parking lots?

3rd. Would a shade canopy be necessary for the campgrounds? I can't imagine there being much shade.

4th. I'm very curious about the Wildhorse campground. It seems like a good deal, but I'm concerned about the availability of party favors in the campground. Is this even an issue?

I'll probably have lots more questions, as I am completely new to this festival.

Edit: One more thing... what about wristbands? Are they the fabric type that they've been using for festivals in 08?

i'm pretty sure re-entry both for yourself at the venue, and your car isn't allowed at all. you should stock up on food and drinks ahead of time since the concession/convenience store prices are asinine. note that unless they've changed the rules this year, you can't bring any soda cans, bottles or alcohol into the venue. what i do is i have a camelbak backpack which you can fill up at water stations inside the venue, then you can add whatever flavoring you want to it. don't spend heaps of money on the concession stuff if you can help it.

the walk to the venue from the campgrounds takes between 10 and 20 minutes depending on where you set up your stuff. if you get a premium campsite or a site at wildhorse campground, there's a free shuttle to and from the gates, but if you go for the general campground you have to walk.

a canopy of some sort would be smart to bring, as it can sometimes be in the 90s or above 100 during that time of year, and the sunlight is pretty intense due to the high desert setting. there's literally no trees or any form of natural shade, it's just a huge open field.

i'm not too positive about wildhorse, as i've never actually camped there (but will be this year). i know they for sure have ice and some supplies there, but if you're looking for alcohol you're best off buying it in a grocery store in ellensburg and bringing that along with you, since their stuff WILL sell out.

new to sasquatch, new to washington.

i'm playing with the idea of driving over from seattle separately for saturday and then monday. is this doable? it sounds like everyone either does the 3-day camp or goes for just one day. and would i be able to get in/out of parking in a timely manner?

ya parking is no problem. its just a big muddy field. think it might cost money to park there a day though. just be sure you're up for a drive at midnight or later.

generally around 45-50 minutes up until the last couple bands on each stage, which can play for 90+ minutes. the cure played for damn near 3 hours last year.

yeah it is definitely doable!! 2 1/2 hour drive,dont speed,sheriffs in ellensburg are asses,bring some red bull for the ride home show gets over around midnight maybe a bit earlier

I am getting the bus from Calgary to Quincy because it is the closest stop to the Gorge. I've been told there is no taxi service in Quincy so I am wondering if find a rideshare is my only option to get to the Gorge from Quincy. I was hoping there would be a taxi or some kind of shuttle. Getting the bus to Seattle instead is also an option if it makes things easier.

This is not a festival that uses wristbands for entry. You bring a ticket with you each day that is scanned upon entry. You then need a wristband to drink alcohol at the venue, and it is the super cheap plastic kind. I hear there is also a wristband for VIP campers, to keep the common folk out of their area.

Last year I saw a lot of the bands walking around with cloth wristbands, so the cloth wristbands may be used as backstage passes.
