Blue Moon is WAY better IMO, but they do have their similarities and I agree that if one like Rickard's White they'll probably like BM.

I agree they're different, and I would also give the edge to Blue Moon for a number of reasons. Blue Moon really impresses me for a mass-market US beer, and it's widely available. I think part of the reason is that it's actually a proper-strength beer even as draft (5%ish) unlike a lot of American beers. Just the same, I know a lot of Rickard's White drinkers who will almost certainly enjoy BM if they haven't tried it yet. I've been known to drink Rickard's if I'm at a pub and want something in that ballpark and that's what they have, although i generally prefer Mill Street's Wit as I mentioned.

I still don't know what to bring... My dad suggested one from Calgary, but I can't remember what it was called. Big Rock maybe?? I don't drink much, and I never drink beer haha.

Probably Grasshopper, the draft is amazing! Especially if it's cold and on a warm day. Make sure you squeeze a piece of lemon into it though!

Ugh, I do not care much for anything Big Rock makes. Especially Grasshopper actually, but I know plenty of people who do. I think I just had it too often in first year. There was a place on campus at UBC that served Trad and you could put it on your meal plan. I think I had enough in that one year for a lifetime.

KY mess Jr -

If you avoid beer because of a gluten issue, there was a study of gluten content (done in Sweden, I think) and of those that were found to have no gluten, I've found 2 locally - Corona (blech) and Pilzner Urquell. I've tried both and haven't had any issues with them. I plan on stocking up an icebox full of Pilzner for the Squatch.

Just an FYI for any fell GF folks who sorely miss beer!

While on the topic of beer, I can't drink beer since I'm allergic to it, so I normally drink a cider (like Strongbow) to join in when others are drinking beer. Last time I was in the states I popped into Walmart and didn't see anything cider like in the beer section-- in the states, is this something I'd find only at an actual liquor store? or does Walmrt just not carry it? like I'll still be able to buy it at Safeway, etc. though.

That is interesting to know, but unfortunately for me it's not the gluten (I can have that no problem) it's the actual wheat I'm allergic to. But I have quite few friends that are Celiac so I'll definitely be sharing this info!

How hard would it be to sneak my friends into the campground in the back of my jeep. Do they check cars as you enter the campground?

If you don't have a ticket, you can't get in. Do your friends really want to risk riding all the way out there with you and than have no place to go for 5 days?

Easy there with the language Pea. I thought this was a friendly forum for questions and answers. I know your the "great grandma" of sasquatch but I don't need your sassafrass. Thanks emptyfox for the straightforward answer.

While I am stoked to party with the other folks going to Sasquatch I am not excited by the idea of people just coming to party but not actually going to the fest. That leaves people in the campground when we are enjoying the chunes and I just don't see that as a cool thing for those of us that did fork out the nearly $300 a piece but can't go back to the campground until we are prepared to leave the music. Don't want to be a bummer or anything and I saw a lot of people at Dave that weren't there to listen to the music but it just seems to me that Sasquatch is there for those of us that pay for the privilege to attend. I personally hope everyone leaves their un-paying friends home.

I believe most of the people on this board would probably agree with this sentiment. Plus those not in the venue for the music are those that are more likely to ransack other people's stuff. Not cool.
