My group officially dubbed the noodles "Shit Noodles" after '09 but last year they must have changed up the recipe because they were actually damn decent and had recognizable meat in them. Between those and the gyros I managed to only spend about $15 on food each day and saved TONS of money by refusing to purchase any alcohol inside the venue. The giant lemonades give you your biggest bang for your buck and taste amazing with a little smuggled vodka.

I fully spent to much on drinks inside the festival last year. Got to find away around that this year but I am an awful liar, and I know I would lose my cool in the bag check and tell the checker everything I've ever done wrong in my life.
I'm like Jim Carey in Liar Liar.

Anyhow, I can see myself thinking of a devious vodka smuggling plan and forgoing it thinking i'll get caught. Hello $9 beers.

Last year I brought in some energy bars (homemade with oats, crispy rice, nuts, and dried fruit), a pb&j for each person, and ziplocs with carrots and broccoli. That was pretty good for holding me over during the day. But I always eat a high protein breakfast. By the end of the weekend I always end up buying something in the venue because I am not quite as full of vim and vigor as I was when I started. I don't think there is a limit to what you can bring, but if you are carrying it around all day then you probably don't want a ton. Also it needs to be in clear plastic bags so Jive Nation can see it.

I made it 2 1/2 days last year eating just eggs w/rice and beans in the morning, dried fruit and trail mix during the day, and peanut butter bagels at night. I caved on Monday and had the best chicken strip basket of my life, and a huge fucking coke.
This year I'm bringing that pre-made Indian food in a bag, which sounds horrible but is delicious and not too bad for you either. I'm cramming 4 people and their stuff in my car, along with a ton of beer, so I'll be buying more food this year.

That's the most important thing. Before food--stock up on the booze! That's my belief, at least! We hit up Costco and brought in a case of Rogue, a few cans of Young's Double Chocolate Stout, and some six packs of Moose Drool. mmmm.
And Stormy--for realz. You gotta show me the tricks about the homemade b'fast bars!

I will find the recipe. It was really easy and did not require any actual baking or anything.

Perfect! I'm an awful baker anyway, so that's perfect! Thanks, Stormy!

Where to buy beer?
Hi, some friends and I are coming down for the first time from Vancouver. We are limited to government agencies pretty much for buying beer here. I know beer will be cheaper in the US, but I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to where it will be cheapest. Duty Free, gas station, grocery, liquor store? Sorry if this has been addressed but I couldn't find it.
Thanks!!

Either Wal-Mart or Rite Aid. I prefer Rite Aid because you can get a case of Hamms for like $14. Perrrrfect for cheap festival boozing.

If you want liquor, duty free is your best bet. You're allowed 1 liter per person, but the Americans are pretty lax about it so if you go over by a little (in my experience) you are unlikely to be penalized. If you want beer/wine, your best prices will be at the big megamarts in Washington. These include Haggen, Safeway, QFC, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. I've found prices are always pretty similar throughout. If you are really going for deals you can check the weekly ads, but you're probably better off just stopping somewhere convenient. Just remember that if you want liquor and you don't get it at duty free you'll have to find a state-run liquor store. Grocery stores in Washington only have beer and wine. Hope this helps!
EDIT: Even some gas stations have good deals on beer/wine, but they'll never have a great selection. 7-11 and AM/PM have always had good deals on the big domestics in my time shopping at them. Something else to consider.

Bah. Don't buy beer at a gas station unless you're in a pinch. You'll always save anywhere from 3-5 bucks if you can find a grocery store instead.

You wouldn't think it, but sometimes convenience stores do have reasonable deals on the shit beers. If they do they'll probably have to prices listed on the windows to the shop, so you can tell even before you enter if there will be something worthwhile inside. In general, though, grocery stores are safer bets.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We want to try some good Washington microbrews as well, but Dr. Garbanzoured we should stock up on cheap easy drinking stuff for the hot daytime. Thanks a lot!!!
