Hi all, planning on making my maiden voyage out to the gorge this May and had one question. I will be flying into Seattle from Indiana with another buddy and then renting a car to drive to the festival. An idea we had was to rent a larger suv or van and then use that as a tent within the camping grounds so it would have us the hassle of checking a tent with our luggage. My question for all of you is has anyone tried this or seen any neighbor campers attempt this and was it successful or not? Thanks.

1.) You may have trouble renting a vehicle of the size you want. I've used Enterprise every time and have only been able to get a "mid-sized SUV." Just something to keep in mind.

2.) Your question, as I understand it, is "Can we sleep in a car?" Other than the possibility that Sasquatch employees will give you trouble (seems unlikely if not impossible), the only real issue is "I don't know, can you?" It seems like a comfort issue to me.

That would be fine. People bring busses and U-hauls. Also, if I remember correctly it is the general consensus of this board that a U-haul is a great place to bang hood-rats

What kind of cars usually classify as a "mid-sized SUV"? I only ask because my car will undoubtedly explode if I attempt to drive it from Boise to the Gorge so I am looking into renting a car. I realize that due to my being under 25, I am going to be paying at least an extra $25 a day but split between 4 people thats peanuts.

People drive RV's into the campground so don't worry about vehicle size.

Haha with a mace or any other blunt object, perhaps. I have notoriously low standards though so maybe after the first long night of drinking in the campground I'll be able to convince the misses to give me our freebie threesome.
