|  | Quitest place to camp?

New question, as per below: Which would be the quieter, more relaxed campsite to sleep at: Sasquatch Premium, or Wild Horse? Is the Sasquatch Premium early admission worth much when weighing the two?
So this is my first time going to Sasquatch, and I'm getting a little worried. I'm a bit beyond my whole youthful college party years and honestly, after I get back from 12 hours of seeing dozens of bands, all I'm probably going to want to do is get some shut eye to prepare me to do it again the next day. However, I'm seeing all these people here talking about bringing freakin' bullhorns for chanting at night, and giant car stereo systems, and basically a giant party right where I supposed to be sleeping.
So, Sasquatch veterans, what is my best hope for getting some peace and quiet at night? I'm already bringing earplugs, and I'm going to try to score some Ambien or, at the least, pick up some TylenolPM (though neither really works all that well for me.) What else can I do? Is there an area in the camping area that's quieter than the rest? One for people who want to sleep?
I know that premium camping is supposed to be the quietest and most laid-back, but it's a bit late for that now. I also hear Friday is the worst night for all of this, but unfortunately, since I'm flying in Friday and don't want to pay for a hotel in Seattle if I have a free camping spot waiting, I have to be there Friday night.
What's a light-sleeper to do?

Not much you can do. nothing can stop the all night party that is Sasquatch! next year get into wildhorse on time with the rest of the old folks.

this will be my first year in the premium section so i can't really comment on that area yet, but last year in the general campground as a light sleeper i got maybe 3 hours of sleep each night. the so-called "quiet hours" are 2-8am but the staff doesn't do much of anything to enforce it. i think the earliest that people shut up last year was around 4am, and by 8 it was too warm to keep sleeping. pretty much if you're a light sleeper like myself and hope to get any decent amount of sleep, you'd better be showing up in an RV with thick insulation or get so tanked that you black out for a few hours. there's really nothing else that can be done unless you want to get a hotel room.

Magicmat - I feel your pain. Was a big problem for me as well. Got no sleep = felt like ass. Now I rent an RV and stay at the Wildhorse, where they're much better about quieting things down.
For this year, your only hope is to and get a spot on the edge of the madness instead of the middle. That will help. But yah, you're probably gonna need to drug yourself.

magicmat I'd bring some ear plugs and after you get back take a tylenol pm- you'll be sleepin in about 30 min- especially after being out all day in the sun, you'll be tired and the meds will help keep you asleep despite the madness (this is not a gurantee- and please take all medicine responsibly and follow manufacturer's directions for doses)

Well, after all your warnings, I ended up buying a premiere pass for face value off of a kind soul via Craigslist.
Quick question about Wildhorse, since I still have an e-mail out about buying one of those passes: Can you come Friday night there, or is it Sat-Tuesday morning only? And is it quieter enough from premiere camping to make it worth the effort to re-sell my premiere camping pass and all that, or is Wildhorse and Premiere about the same in terms of quietness?

I've never stayed in Premier Camping myself, but I think you'll be good to go there. There's a large fence separating the Premier camping from the general grounds. Will you hear stuff? Sure. But it'll be much, much better.
As for the Wildhorse, you can arrive starting Friday morning. Friday night comes as part of the deal.

I stayed at wild horse last year (not my choice, but I liked the sleep) and you were able to come in on friday, not sure how early because we came pretty late at night. And I'm sure they have a similar gone by tuesday at noon policey (again not sure because we left on monday, and again not my choice). They actually do have camp staff that come around to the louder parties and ask them to quiet down during their quiet hours and I had no problem sleeping through the night. I think you should keep your premiere pass and just go for wild horse next year. Premiere seems pretty much the same just more expensive.

OK, I'm leaning toward keeping my premiere pass, then. I'd still love to hear from somebody who has stayed at both, but if premiere is sleepable, combined with the early access to the grounds, I think it's the better deal.

Yeah last year we had early entry at wild horse, but it was the passes that anybody could print off from the esurance website and I've been yet to find any early entry passes floating around on the web. So I'm thinking this year it might be exclusivly for premiere camping, parking, and vip ticket holders.

I stayed in Premier camping last year and it was not quieter (at least not where I was anyways). Bring an mp3 player, that worked for me.

Well, dang. I was all set to be committed to premier camping and then I see this. Can anybody else corroborate? I know the premier camping is fenced off from the rest of the campground, but if the loud masses are just on the other side of a simple wooden fence, then that probably helps little.
I know I've seen others here say that premier camping was more of families, and those there just for the music, which is what I'm looking for, but hopefully that also implies it's quieter, too.

I have not stayed in premium before (although I am trying it out this year), but most of the loud partying occurs in the middle of the campground to my recollection, a little ways away from the premium camping. Last year we were on the very far side of general camping and it was pretty quiet, I assume that sound wise it would be pretty similar in premium (although I can't say 100% for sure it will be)

The way I see it you have 3 options:
1. Stick your head out of the tent every now and then and call out "shhhhhhhh". Probably won't help much though.
2. Drugs, ear plugs and 2 pillows to make a head sandwich. You'll still hear drumming all night though and will wake up grumpy and irritated and generally hate the weekend.
3. Go with the flow. Act like you're 20 again, party til 3am with your neighbours then sleep for 3 hours. When you get to the festival, find a nice shaded area and a chill band, buy a $12 beer and kip for an hour or two. That way, you'll only have yourself to blame for your sore head and general exhaustion and you'll be way less grumpy!
