I'm willing to bet the amount of Canadians is around the same as all of the states except Washington put together.

The ability to buy 5 days worth of booze for less than $100 is too tempting for most of us. The music is just a bonus.

Oh god damnit, I've heard that song and kind of enjoyed it. Yeah, that sounds like it should be a hit and ill be sick of it well before Sasquatch.

I love that mgmt refuses to remake kids and major labels are going to spend the next 10 years trying to emulate it.

This is basically how I felt about Pumped up Kicks. It was catchy and inoffensive enough when it first started making the rounds in 2010, and Foster the People had about 300 listeners on last.fm. Then they blew up, it got played everywhere, and now I can't fucking stand it.

I seem to recall the 24 oz beers being about $10 each. More like $100 a day.

He's not talking about buying beer at the festival. He's talking about buying booze in the US compared to Canada (more specifically B.C.).

It's all about Dr. Garbanzouring out which band is on a major label and will be pushed on the radio hard.

Youngblood Hawke is on Republic which is a massive record label so they're definitely a good pick.

It took a bit of digging because they're trying to hide it but Capitol Cities is signed to Capitol Records (this is their copyright: "Lazy Hooks, LLC under exclusive license to Capitol Records. ").

Robert Delong is on Glassnote which is a record label that is great at getting their artists radio play but they tend to do it in a semi-grassroots way compared to the brute force that major labels use. They may end up having the staying power but I don't expect them to rule the airwaves by May.

But of course Atlas Genius is the obvious answer. Their debut comes out in like 2 weeks on Warner Bros.

So after doing this why do I get the feeling that Pea has already done this research and I'm over explaining his point?

Nice cbats/Pea. This is definitely a great breakdown. All of those bands are picking up steam...quickly! That Capital Cities song is the new Foster the People, and I hate it. I do, however, really enjoy Youngbloode Hawke's "We Come Running". It's too catchy for it's own good, similar to Fun.'s "We Are Young". I don't care how many times I hear that song I still love it.

EDIT: That Atlas Genius song also kick ass.

My bad, although, Atlas Sound is good as well.

Hah. I think the Capital Cities song is fun enough. Like someone else already said though, Pumped Up Kicks was pretty fun at first, too.

Also, careful when confusing Atlas Sound with Atlas Genius ;)

My heart raced a little my first time through the lineup because I thought it said Atlas Sound, whom I would much prefer.

You buy beer in the festival? It's pretty damn easy to get more than enough liquor in to the fest each day. Buying drinks inside is a fools game.

Yeah I never fucking buy booze in there. Food/water out of desperation before re-entry, and the occasional band shirt, but never alcohol, that's completely ridiculous.

I allow myself one festival-bought beer a day. They're just so damn refreshing during the hottest part of the day that the price doesn't even phase me.

I usually end up buying one or two per fest when I really want a cold beer, but no matter how little I care about the money I just die a bit inside when I pay roughly 10x as much for beer vs. the beer I have back at camp.

I completely agree with Pea. There's nothing better than drinking that cold fresh beer when it's hot as shit, and you're not fucking walking back to camp for now. I used those big PBR's to drink half down then refill it up with my liquor I already came in with. Transformer Alcoholic in disguise.
