That is awesome! How far away from the gorge is it? |
|
Very close, within walking distance. It's on Silica road on the left side, maybe a mile before the entrance to the campground. There's signs out on the road for it.

Also, I don't see the problem with box wine at all. Pull out the bag when it's half done, shove it in your backpack near the bottom and the security guards never find it. |

No definitely not buying it in Canada. I google mapped the route today. Victoria ►liquor store in Port Angeles ►Walmart Port Angeles ►Trader Joe's Silverdale ►SASQUATCH!
It looked like on the websites that I can't buy hard liquor at grocery stores, but if you know any different please let me know! Less stops = better |

We passed an initiative this past November to allow liquor sales in grocery stores, but it isn't allowed until June 1st unfortunately. Just a week too late for Sasquatch

We usually just get our liquor at the duty free. You can get 2 litres each and they dont mind (even though the limit is technically 1 litre), so that is usually good enough for us and then we get beer and wine at the grocery store. Coming from Victoria you might be taking the ferry, so I'm not sure how the duty free situation works with that.

Yeah I don't know how it works really either... I have only taken that ferry once and it was at 7 pm and we were about to drive for 28ish hours straight so we didn't really look to see what was going down. I do work with a lady that goes down all the time and I know she brings stuff back, but I don't know about the way down.

Wait... I didn't know you could buy duty free on the way into the states! There is actually an onboard duty free on the ferry... just looked it up... crazy.

I like doing the duty free as well. I think of it as akin to paying the bouncer to skip the line since it cuts the border wait down to about 15 minutes every time.

Yeah that's the way to do it, something like $15 for a litre of liquor, can't really go wrong. On the way down the don't really care if you go over your limit by a bottle so it saves you a stop along the way.

Somehow I am getting flashbacks to the Funky Planet.
If you guys go through the truck crossing on 176th I used to live above that gas station at 8th avenue. Was fun times, even though during the day there were truckers everywhere.
