I always thought a burrito was just a soft shelled taco, so I didn't know that I hadn't had one until I ordered it and it was something different.

Sort of but not really. Larger, and with many more fillings such as beans, rice, and things of the sort. Sometimes you can get them "wet" as well which is smothering it in a tomato based sauce and cheese and eating it with a knife and fork.
