In all seriousness, though, it is well documented that I was raised Mormon; it is also extremely well documented that I'm not anymore.
But my whole family still is. I don't tolerate jokes about polygamy or jokes about the subservience of Mormon wives on the board or in any other arena. In my 'real life', someone making attempts at that kind of humor is one of the very few things that will cause me to stand up and say 'Now hold on a second.'
Basically, I have the understanding (in treacherous spades) to know precisely where the line is. You guys don't, because that was way over it.

Not joking at all - I really would have assumed oral sex would have been against the rules. I also would really like a 50s wife (mormon or not). I hope I didn't offend. Wasn't my intention. Will refrain moving forward.

We appear to be bad influences on each other. I hope this is also the case when we shotgun beers together at sasq.

I'm not offended, just being a stern old granner-gran. I get that Mormons are perennially the butts of jokes.
I just want the reason why to be understood. Seriously, I don't mean to take anyone to task over it. I just have to look out for my people, ya know?

It will be. I'm a bad influence on everyone. You know, like when...I was about to make a joke but I digress.

Sorry HG, I have to raise the BS flag here. If jokes (sometimes highly offensive ones) about Canadian and Southern stereotypes is accepted here - and even encouraged - then certainly Mormon stereotypes aren't off limits.
Either we can make fun of everyone or we can't make fun of anybody at all.

The difference is that HG isn't or hasn't been a Canadian or Southerner, so that stuff's ok.

I think in terms of making fun of religions, the only religion that appears to be fair game is general christianity (and maybe catholicism)... or maybe just general religiousness itself. You aren't going to see a bunch of jokes about Islam or Judaism, so I get why Mormonism would be something that shouldn't be joked about.
