Yes, unfortunately I know the reality of the situation. You can say I'm a dreamer.

Just stay in general and pack food. You can make any sort of delicious thing you want.

And what kind of whacky crap are you guys smoking if you think they would drop the fourth day without dropping the price?

Yeah, I don't know how they could justify keeping the price up. They hardly justified it with Loud Friday.

Based on the fact that it will sell out anyway and they like to make money, I would say it's possible.
I thought the price hikes this year were pretty steep. Correct me if I am wrong, but a 3 day pass in 2010 was something around 170 depending on when you bought. Add on 1/4 of a camping pass, assuming you have 4 in a car, like I always do, and the total came to $200 for 3 days with fees (I could be remembering the fees wrong though).
200/3 = $66.66/day
285/4 = $71.25/day
Yeah, its only $5 difference/day, but when you Dr. Garbanzoure Friday was a half assed day and do this:
285/3.5 = $81.43/day
it starts to seem a lot more expensive.
Bottom line is this will sell out and they have already established at least 25000 people have $285 to spend on tickets. I think there will be a big uproar if they dont drop the price for 3 days, but people will forget soon enough.

So they are going to increase the per day price to $95 from $67 in 2010, then be the most expensive three day festival in the U.S. with a joke of a lineup in comparisson? You are overestimating how many people will go no matter what, and how much of a sure thing a sellout is.
Not to mention last year wasn't really a true sell-out, and Friday only became a half day after they took the first wave of tickets off sale. They will certainly have to up their game this year to sell out again, and a $30 per day markup is a laughable way of doing it.

I hope you're right. I wouldnt be shocked if they charge 70 a day after fees without camping, that puts it around 240 for the weekend. This year coachella is 269 plus fees and camping is 75. Assuming 4 per car, thats 96 bucks a day before fees. I know Coachella > Sasquatch, but they havent been that far appart in price the last few years.
And hey, we are assuming they are going to make it 3 days. I enjoyed 4 days a lot more than I thought I would this year and I would be thrilled if it was 4 days again this year.

Has there been a major or semi-major festival that has expanded 1 year and contracted the year after that wasn't prompted by lackluster ticket sales?
Fact is they sold out a 4 (or 3.5) day festival at $285+. If you think they're going to drop the price or drop the number of days you're high.

This way they can drop the 4th day and still point to the addition of the camping pass as a reason to keep the price where it is. I mean I hope I'm wrong. The cheaper the ticket, the better it is for me. I just can't see it happening. |

If I could comprehend what point you are trying to make, I would disagree with you.

The point I'm trying to make is that even if they do drop back to 3 days they can still justify a higher price because they've added value to the ticket by packaging it with camping and no additional fees. I never said that they would drop the price or drop the number of days, I just said that they could drop the number of days without dropping the price. It would make a lot of sense for their bottom line.
I really can't see any reason for them to drop the 4th day though.

Sasquatch: Hey everyone, we've added a FOURTH DAY to the Sasquatch Festival! That makes it a whole one day bigger than all of the other major U.S. America festivals!
Guy: But all of those other festivals have far superior lineups to yours, Sasquatch. Wouldn't it make more sense to just make yours a three-day festival with a much better lineup?
Sasquatch: Yes, well... But we have a fourth day.

The difference between sasquatch and many of the other major festivals is the gorge has a capacity that can't expand. So instead they have to add another day to expand.
