I was barely searched any of the 4 days. The one time they did look below the top layer in my bag, it was just a quick glance. They never opened any parts of the bag except for the main compartment (and the other ones were obvious, not hidden at all). I was asked to empty my pockets once. Other than that, zipped right through. On Saturday I had a super-cool security guy who asked me if my hat lit up, and I told him yes. He then looked in my bag, asked me how many glow sticks I had (I told him about 1,000), and he just said "awesome" and waved me through.
I said it somewhere else, but I just made sure I was in the line that had the person who looked the most chill / least thorough with the people in front of me (as much as I could tell) and had no issues. Incidentally, the easiest way to do this was to look for the fastest-moving (as opposed to shortest) line.

Every day I just opened my bag and started bringing my sandwiches and shit out of my bag and the security dude was like, " Woah, Woah, You're fine, move along". I never tried to sneak anything in, but after this I guess I probably should have.

That dude was a complete dick. He was convinced that the pint was actually up my ass. Then he made a big scene in front of everyone in line. "This guy has something shoved so far up his ass! I'm amazed he can walk!" I wasn't about to correct him because hilarity ensued.
The swarm of Yellow Shirts converged on me, each one striving to be "the one" to confiscate my booze. Luckily I had my shit force field keeping them at bay. When one of the assholes would gather enough courage to get closer to me I would simply go to hand them the pint and they would scurry back to the safety of the group. Cries of "Don't touch that, don't touch that!" reverberated throughout the security checkpoint as the Yellow Shirts exchanged helpless looks of utter confusion and bewilderment.

Wrong. The guy that found my pint grabbed my crotch prior to shoving his arm up my ass. Maybe he liked me? Maybe I need to quit being so damn good-looking.

Definitely this. I was the designated pipe smuggler because I'd just put it down my shirt and go in a line with a guy. They'd check my bag and let me pass. Worked everytime.
Of course, considering this is the thread with security, I'd never do it again... |

im not here to gather information for future use i am simply here to inform the public. anything said on this forum will not go beyond me...to be honest i understand that everyone is there to have a good time and sometimes certain substances making having that good time even better, and my recommendation to everyone is dont bring a piece of glass that means everything to you because not everyone is like me and will tell you "put it away and if i see it again im taking it" they will just take it...and just so everyone knows when a bong or pipe or whatever type of device you are using is taken it is smashed and thrown away.

hahaha, I was only joking around so no worries. If anyone actually thought that you were here to bust us, no one would have said anything.
You're a cool guy for doing this. This is interesting if not informative.

So what group of people tend to be the most problematic and you have to deal with most often? People on drugs? People that are belligerently drunk? Both?

Is protecting personal property part of your job description? I doubt Livenation cares about personal property, but since you usually work in the campground, are you aware there were people jumping in tents stealing items while we were all at the festival?

yea i know the smashing of glassware sucks i know it can be expensive and so do my bosses but its just protocol. the most problematic are the drunk people that decide to start massive party trains, and the ones on drugs are generally pretty chill (depending on their drug of choice) and yes we were aware of all the tent robbing and we were doing as much as we could, we were very short handed on rovers this year some nights we only had one roving crew and a 2 man response team to cover the whole campground (quite the challenge if you ask me) many from past years quit or didnt want to work. sasquatch is a huge event, 20,000+ people 400 security less than 50 of which are in the campground and less than 10 of which are rovers. But to answer more specifically no it is not security's job to protect your personal property although we do try to catch the culprits to the best of our ability plus we have to catch the person in the act of the crime.

Back in 2010 I had another security guard basically tell me the same thing. Most people that were just high were not much of a problem, but liquored up folk always seemed to be the worst troublemakers. They said that people high on Lucy were the ones getting escorted out the most frequently either because of them loosing their minds, or just plain dehydration, but never because they were being destructive or dangerous (except to themselves).

Do they know actual attendance numbers? It seems like there's more people at Sasquatch than a regular sold out show at the gorge.

Bullshit, I say. It's not your responsibility to protect our personal property but it sure as fuck is your responsibility to make sure there aren't marauders ransacking the campground when there's nobody in it. ONE roving crew and a TWO MAN response team? That is unacceptable. That is fucking stupid.

there are more tickets sold for sasquatch and warped tour because there are multiple stages. and i agree with you about it being securities job to make sure people arnt ransacking tents and yes it is bullshit that we had the low numbers that weekend...what happened is the company hired some of the CWU football players (i think 11 of them) and they promised to pull double shifts all weekend and after the first day they all gave up and went home, and those 11 people would have made 3 roving teams and a 5 man response team. they finnaly got some more people up there for the last night but at that point it was already to late.
