I swear, I met so many people from Canada and you know what? They were ALL super great people!!!
Not afraid to have fun unlike most people there. Why is it that crowds these days only hoot and holler for a band when they're done with the set??? How about boosting the energy by raising holy hell all the way through for fuc#'s sake!
WOW, Thank you Canadians for not being too cool for school!

You're Welcome!
I had camping neighbours from Olympia, Portland, California, and Omaha and they were all awesome.
On behalf of us Canadians I want to thank all the Americans for making us feel so welcome at the Gorge. I honestly did not want to leave yesterday!
For anyone who has gone through the Peace Arch Border Crossing I believe the monument states: "Canada and U.S.A: Brothers From Another Mother"

Pemberton won't be happening this year because Live Nation couldn't get permission to use the site in time to book bands. The festival took place on some apparently very potent potato farming land, so they have to get permission from the Agricultural Land Reserve to use the site. I believe they intend on bringing the festival back in 2010 though.
Last year the music was great, but organizationally the festival was a complete and utter disaster.

Hmm where to begin...
I think a lot of the problems had to do with the site. First of all, you couldn't camp with your car (I guess there wasn't room for 20,000 campers with cars). Parking was on an airfield which was probably a mile away. They had school buses transport festival-goers from the airport to the festival/camping site. There were not nearly enough buses and on the first day some people had to wait 4-5 hours to get on a bus.
The on site security was non-existent. I heard that most of the employees from the security company that was hired walked off the job on the first day. So when we arrived at the campsite there was no one directing people to set up their tents in rows, everyone just claimed a spot wherever there was room. The campsite was really close to the festival grounds, which was really nice, and we were allowed re-entry which was great. But like I said there was no security going in or out so naturally once everyone realized this people rushed to the liquor store in town to stock up. The campsite was a total gong-show and its a miracle no one died. Oh yeah, and the other ridiculous thing was that I think there were about 4 dumpsters on the entire campsite which all filled up in a matter of hours so people were basically forced to throw their garbage on the ground.
The only major problem in the festival was the dance tent. It had a fucking amazing lineup. The Crystal Method, Deadmau5, Chromeo, MSTRKRFT, Junkie XL, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist, to name a few. However for some ridiculous reason they set the capacity of the tent at round 4,000 (at a 40 to 45 thousand person festival). So there was ALWAYS a gigantic lineup to get in and many people missed acts waiting in line. My friend and I were forced to hop 2 fences and sneak in to see MSTRKRFT, which was awesome btw.
Finally, the drive home was an absolute nightmare. Obviously almost everyone tried to leave at the same time and unfortunately that doesn't work so well on the narrow one-lane sea-to-sky highway. In addition, there was constantly construction being done which held thing up further. The trip there took about 3 hours, but going home we arrived 13.5 hours later.
Overall though I still had fun. Haha

coachella doesn't allow parking with cars either. having your car is essential. especially if it rains, as the gorge is prone to doing. camping at sasquatch was perfect last year, from my experience. i always meet the greatest people
