Blatantly sexist jokes like the one you just posted aren't automatically rendered inoffensive and acceptable just because they don't offend some white dude in Canada. It's far more likely they will be offensive to the people who are being stereotyped by the joke.

It's fine for you to think all racist and sexist jokes -- "especially ones about guys and white people" -- are acceptable because YOU ARE A WHITE MALE. You aren't actually being discriminated against by anybody in the real world, so why shouldn't you laugh? Women ARE discriminated against; they probably don't think its funny at all.

WHY THE FUCK DON'T PEOPLE KNOW WHERE THE FUCKING LINE IS.

Tsk tsk, white male-centric hegemony. Jokes are almost par for the course for marginalization... come on. You should know that. You can't really make racist or sexist jokes about white men. They're both a dominant group. It's not funny.

But it's "okay". I'm sure you were "just joking", right? You're not "really" a sexist, aye? Then why is it funny to you?

This.

A+ for articulation.

I'm really not used to seeing people get so easily offended over the internet. I've been to a lot of different internet communities, but this is the only forum where I've seen one little comment get so many people in an uproar.

You may also have noticed that this forum has a higher concentration of thinking people than most places on the internet. This conversation is getting old. It doesn't fucking matter if davers thinks sexist jokes are funny. They're not, and they have no place here. People are constantly saying that they find it offensive, so even if you don't you should just have some god damn respect and fucking keep it to yourself.

I don't get easily offended. I get offended if my own subjugation is happening before my eyes, yeah. Thing is, I don't know the guy, and I can't make any observations as to his intent. It could be that he's a card carrying member of NOW and he just doesn't know any better. No matter your intentions, you have to learn someday that these jokes aren't just jokes. They're oppressive, demeaning, and put in place by a patriarchal society that wants to keep women in check.

I can't stand it. Anyone who complains just "can't take a joke." Well, yeah, I guess I do kind of get a little itchy when something is so blatantly patronizing. It's a great marginalizing strategy, really. Those who don't like it get pushed to the side as unfunny feminists who don't know how to laugh, and those who go along with it are "in the cool crowd".

I aint mad. I just want to spread a little uppity education.

See, I didnt want to go down this road, which is why I covered my ass on the whole bitch slap comment.

Anyway, my point was everyone has a different line. I didnt want to cross anyones, so I did my best not to. I'm just going to drop this, but everyone else can continue if they want.
