HG made a request for an Ignore feature in the Board Suggestions thread. I realize that having the ability to straight up block an individual's posts may strike some of you as a DIRECT VIOLATION, but to me, this seems like an intermediate step for managing conflicts without resorting to an outright ban of unpopular (or even unnecessarily aggressive and perpetually annoying) users.

How to use it: Under a poster's avatar, you should see the following: [image] If you want to ignore the user, click it. You will still see that they have made posts, but you will not see the post's content. If you decide to change your mind and view this poster's statements again, you will see the following face where the "shut up, please" face was before: [image] Click it, and you will see that person's posts again.

I thought about it and came up with the following possible ways to abuse this feature:

Scenario A: Poster 1 gets "ignored" by a large number of users; to combat this, he or she creates multiple accounts and just quotes his or her first username's posts, or simply reposts them under alternate names.

Possible solutions: Other posters ignore Poster 1's multiple usernames; multiple usernames reposting the same material constitute spam and are accordingly banned

Scenario B: Poster 1 blocks Poster 2, but Poster 2 has an ally in Poster 3. Poster 3 accordingly begins quoting and reposting every single post made by Poster 2. Chaos ensues.

Possible solutions: We take away the feature.

Don't abuse it, folks.

This thread is for (a) letting me know whether the feature works and (b) offering me gifts in thanks. It is not for you to catalog the posters you've chosen to ignore, or to otherwise instigate conflict.

P.S. You can't ignore mods. Hahahahahahahahhaah suck it.
