A good pair of ’sidewalk surfers’ is absolutely the way to go. Flops will work, but the canvas shoe style is way better for the Gorge. They’re light, very comfy, well vented (so you dont get swamp foot), dry out quick if they get wet, wont give you blisters, but also wont randomly fall off your foot either. And best of all, you dont have to be seen wearing Crocs!

Whatever you do, dont buy a brand new pair of Chucks the day before and break em in over the course of the weekend. Among the worst pain I have ever experienced.

i'd just say - don't buy a brand new pair of any type of shoes just to break in at sasquatch. wear a pair of already-broken in comfortable shoes

Ha, my first year, my buddy brought a brand new pair of sandals. He was bitching about them all day saturday, but nobody listened. Then I borrowed them to walk to a porta john and got a blister from the five minute walk. Lesson? There are good sandals, and there are terrible sandals.

I'll be wearing my Adidas Sambas for the 2nd year in a row. Seriously the best and longest lasting pair of shoes I've ever owned.

Sambas rule, I've owned like four pairs.
I wear Keens to Sasquatch, and I bring my Merrill hikers as well just in case.

I don't agree with the original post at all!
If you have shoes that are comfortable to walk in, stay on your feet without trouble, and are cool in the 90 degree weather, wear them. Huge considerations for the heat, but also for the walk to and from, the constant standing, and mosh pit time. One year I wore deck shoes with rawhide laces and they kept coming untied. Trust me, you do not want to have to tie your shoes when you are in that tight of a crowd. Also, flip flops are terrible in the mosh pit. No matter what you wear, your feet will get sore. It is a matter of how bad.
