I agree that the stretch of Gateway Blvd from the city limit to Whyte Ave is horrendous, but to judge a city based on 1 road which ends up turning pretty fucking nice makes me think a lot less of your arguments. . |

Haha fair enough. Calgary has its shitty areas tucked away in the eastern part of the city.

this is what I like to call "misinformation"
We've got an absolutely massive fleet of snowplows and contractors. Unfortunately we've also got an urban sprawl problem which gives us thousands of km of roads to clear. Roads which start at 1st and end somewhere around 215th at this point. Much easier than having 4 different addresses with the only distinguishing factor being a direction (NW, SW, whatever).
I agree with the roads being named all kinds of different shit. That drives me nuts too, but it's hardly a reason to call Edmonton 'a hole'.

like with any city, there are some areas that just plain suck and are ugly, but manufacturing is rarely pretty. There are homeless, and there is road construction, but as far as I know every city has those problems. The trick is to enjoy what's good, and try to ignore what's bad.
We have a massive river valley running fron the NE to the SW which fucks traffic and street names up, and our airport is 30 min from downtown. In spite of all that, I love this city, and I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Go to Eden or Diamonds. I haven't been to either in years, but it's generally agreed upon that those are the best 2 in the city.

Very nice indeed Alex. Is that where the Folk Fest is held? Also, River Valley is amazing.

Folkfest is held at Gallagher Park. I'd love it if they could hold more concerts there, but it's right in the middle of a residential community, and they won't allow it. As it is the members of the surrounding community get free tickets just to appease them.
In that pic you can see the Muttart Conservatory Pyramids too, which is an awesome piece of Edmonton.

I was born in Halifax, another awesome city. Downtown is so much fun, amazing bars all over the place. A really beautiful city as well.
I had to move because the job market is complete shite, but I still get back once or twice a year.
